Edited the message and added a disclaimer. I was actually worried he'd do that to be honest.

Oh no, that's not good at all, if the tracker stops that means the ducks developed a nest in the code. You have to delete system32 in order to fix it now. Disclaimer: This is not in any way, shape or form advisable, do not do this, and if you do...provide pictures for comedic value.

[1.7.10] The 1.7.10 Pack [Kitchen Sink] Over 1M Downloads!
Nitus replied to Jon_'s topic in Platform Potluck
You're right, he doesn't need permissions to post a modpack, but he does have them, with links to the exact words of the mod makers. I do like how you insult the work of the modpack creator, insult his character and how you finish this bundle of joy with the oh so passive-aggressive "You're welcome to refute this." Pro-tip: if you're trying to look better than someone else, avoid insulting him, it really just makes you look like the asshole. Permissions shouldn't even be a thing when talking about mods, but I guess this is already so deeply rooted in the modding community that it's too late to change anything. -
shhhh, don't spoil the surprise! I want to see this implode magnificently!

I'm just waiting for the "crash and burn" part of this discussion, you know, that part that makes a thread qualified for the Whale Box. That section hasn't gotten new content in a while.
-
Where exactly do you live, where this right here isn't venom? The best part is that you said this kind of thing all the time. You are the guy that insults others, you have been doing it since the start yet you act like you are a victim in all this.
-
Is it just me, or does editing your posts remove some of the content in them?
-
And if you actually took the time to read what I said carefully you'd realize I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about "that crazy guy that lives down the street with the boarded up house, you know, the one that always asks you about your food and water storage." But, again, in your hurry to hang everyone that just doesn't seem to get your point you just gloss over things. That's also something I find amazing, how you just dismiss everyone as not getting your point when people make perfectly good arguments against it. Let me give you a tip: take a bit of the venom you put in your posts out, add in some substance, and maybe, just maybe, people will take you seriously.

I wish Microsoft would just release a fucking statement to end these "WE'RE DOOMED!" scenarios. The amount of people running around like headless chickens is unbelievable. I also like how he tries to act like he is more intelligent than us, yet he also acts like that crazy guy that lives down the street with the boarded up house, you know, the one that always asks you about your water and food storage? ...wish the guy just fucking moved already...

Question: What exactly would Minecraft 2 consist of? That's something that has been fucking with my brain for awhile.

People seem to forget that running a business isn't just about them zeros in a paycheck, you need to garner clients and maintain them. If they basically say "Hey you! Yes, you! Go fuck youself!" they aren't running a business, they're running a circus...a really, really bad circus...full of code monkeys *cough cough* that like to throw their own shit at their clients.

I love that condescending tone in that text, I can almost hear you go "Tsk tsk" while I read it. And, yes, I did pay for the full game. By your logic, just because I payed for my games using steam, I don't own them, I just get access to it until they decide otherwise. And, no, freaking the fuck out over what might happen isn't a smart thing to do. Whatever the hell happens, happens. I'll move on to better games, so will Technic and we all live happily ever after.
-
Fuck. That. Noise. I'm not paying X amount of money per month if I payed for the full damn game. And I'm pretty sure that's the equivalent of shooting oneself on the foot. They won't gain more money, they'll just lose more customers.
-
That's the beautiful thing about this whole shit. If they mess this up, they lose a ton of money, so they can't mess this up. What they can do, is make sure they are in control of the situation. This would be a great way of doing it. Also can't lie to you, it would be my dream to see some of those guys get a good hard dose of reality slammed into their faces. Bunch of fearful rabbits.

"Technic has plans to expand to other games, which games that'll be is still open" - Munaus, Technic Moderator. (Time for inspirational text.) Technic doesn't die if something happens to Minecraft, it will evolve. Do you know why it won't die? Because WE are Technic. Yes, we. You, me, that guy that is sitting on the couch drinking beer. We are what makes Technic, Technic. (End of inspirational text.) Now, let's look into this purely from a business perspective. The thing we all know is true is that Microsoft needs to get those 2.5 billion back. No. Matter. What. Now, they can't just go head on into this. Considering their previous fuck ups, the RareWare business, plus the public opinion they gathered because of the Xbox One, they can not fail on this. We are talking about a lot of money that is on the table. Not only the previous billions that were used now, but also their stock value. They can't gamble anything on this deal, or else they are fucked. The best thing they can do is invest on the game, make a good name of themselves, and then start harvesting their profits. Now, let's look into the gaming side of things. You say people are jumping ship? Good. If they can't handle this, let them go. That way newer mods will take the spotlight, maybe a few toxic weeds get pulled out (if we are lucky), and maybe the modding community will improve a bit. And, honestly, I pray Microsoft will go down hard on modders. Set up some rules of what is or isn't accepted, set up their own Minecraft Forum, ask the current ones to close down (or give them a DMCA takedown notice, whichever they prefer), and finally fix this damn mess. Because, honestly, some modders need to be knocked down a peg, and a few of the moderators and admins of MC Forums need to be taken of their posts. Things will change and we can do nothing about it but wait and see, so let's take our tin foil hats off, go outside and smell a flower.
-
Unfortunately this is still the way people see things nowadays. You lose a lot of credibility with certain people if you mention Technic in a favorable way. But, honestly, fuck'em, the fun I've had in these forums, and playing Tekkit and the other modpacks can't be replaced and I certainly don't regret sticking to the Technic side.

[1.7.10] The 1.7.10 Pack [Kitchen Sink] Over 1M Downloads!

Some modders don't like it when people don't suck up to them so they already have lackeys going around and dropping the guillotine on people they think deserve it. For a lot of them, the mods they make grant them the 15 minutes of fame they have always wanted, and they will fight for them with all they have. When someone comes out of the wood works, that doesn't ask them for their permission to use their mod, then either one of two things will happen: A - They shut you down faster than you can blink; B - In comes the White Knights protecting the "poor, bullied modders" by throwing feces at you and the people that are with you; C - The modders themselves take action against you. This is why I wouldn't be that depressed if Microsoft made up some house rules for modding. There are a lot of them that need to be knocked down a peg and taught a lesson on humility. -
I thought the war ended a long time ago...I still remember it, oh so clearly...the horror...

Hey, Satan also left at the same time. ...again, sounds about right considering some of the stuff I've read in those forums are worse than something Satan could come up with. I swear, after 5 minutes of reading some of those threads, I feel the need to go to the church and confess my sins. -

Fun fact: there already is. And apparently Satan is also there...now that I think about it, this explains a lot of things... -

So, basically part of the tree is rotting so let's cut it all down? And the rotten part wasn't even truly rotten, it just had a small amount of moss growing on it. Can that "pseudo-discussion" even be considered a flame war? I mean, the guy we were talking to "thanked us" for our posts (also love the use of "thank x for this post" instead of Like, not hipster at all). -

...did they delete your thread? What the shit? Did it seriously break a rule? Because I've seen threads with modpacks that also don't have permission and they weren't deleted. I've heard of the Minecraft Forums being bad, but I honestly didn't expect this. -
Both are ok, and the two can lead to a very interesting discussion. But I was expecting you to actually create a different thread, and not use this one...
