  1. The speed doesn't need to be exactly 50%. I'd helped another on my server to build one and he was getting dark matter at a little below 50%. 50% was just the number I'd originally read somewhere, so it was my target number and I get dark matter pretty consistently with it. My colliding area is covered all around except for the bottom. I have the obsidian pipe below the tunnel where the particles collide. I do not believe it'll work if the obsidian is in the way of the particles as theoretically the particles collide with one another. I will leave my accelerator on for a time, and I notice that it gets out of sync with each other sending particles out at different times. It does not appear to affect getting dark matter. At the time I made my reactor, I also had to have 8 atomic electromagnets per section of tube, as opposed to the 4 per section you have above. I do not know if any of this has changed with the recent patches. I will say you'll probably want a bit more space between your accelerators to put some piping to keep the accelerators running automatically for a bit, but they should work the way they are otherwise. By the by, if you screw up placing these things and are tired of breaking them with a pick that takes forever per block, try using a mining turtle set to tunnel. Picks them up no problems. In summation, I'd say drop the obsidian pipe down one and close off the remaining spaces, build your tunnel, and this should work.
  2. Dunno if it'll help, but..... I was able to convert without -too- much pain. Somewhere in these forums someone addressed this with some software called Midas or Midasgold which converts the item IDs from 1.1.8 to 1.2 with a definitions file (also linked in that post). Most things translated ok. However, all redstone cells converted were creative redstone cells. I fixed this by changing the redstone ID to make a block of dirt to ensure the users on the server didn't have creative redstone cells. One major thing you would need to do before the conversion is to delete the folder that holds dimension doors. Odd things happened in the chunks that had dimension doors after the conversion if this wasn't done. No real loss there. I don't know if the moon would have been saved. I deleted all dimensions except the overworld. If you can find the thread in these forums (possibly two months old) then you should be golden. It will preserve the buildings and a fair amount of machine infrastructure. There will be some remodelling and remachining to be done, but, hey, it's Mine Craft. Go build it! Found the thread '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> About halfway down the first page Gigeran provided the conversion file I used. You can google midas gold for the download.
  3. Just wish the mod came with cotton shoes or something to absorb fall damage. Mashing both hover mode and jetpack to not take fall damage is a little cumbsersome at times. Trying to no longer use power armour while finding decent substitutes.
  4. I have no pictures, but here's what I made. A huge 79x126 tube of atomic electromagnets. You can't use regular electromagnets. I bisected this tube on both ends. On one end I put two particle accelerators firing the opposite directions. On the other bisection I put an obsidian pipe to an ender chest. The reason for the large tube is that, from what I'd read beforehand, the partlcles have to get to 50% speed. It makes dark matter fairly consistently.
  5. Awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
  6. I am trying to nerf powersuits a bit on my small server of friends. However, when I modify mmmpowersuits.cfg to either drain more energy on a hit, make the energy field weaker, or just outright disable the energy shield, or a myriad of other config changes, no change is seen on the client end. The server has been restarted after any change. Testing shows no difference. Please tell me a client-side config change is not required.
  7. I had a similar problem which turned out to be McAfee virus scan. I put an exception in it so it wouldn't scan the tekkit folder and the stutters went away.
  8. The atomic assembler and the HUGE ring of electromagnets needed to make the dark matter. Atomic assemblers will do some serious siphoning of a LOT of energy. Good for duplicating those world threads and a few other hard to acquire items.
