I'm getting this same problem. If I try opening the jar file directly, it displays the splash screen and just hangs. I am wondering if its related to what I started a thread about. http://forums.technicpack.net/index.php/topic,5414.0.html

What is this new 8.1.0 | 1.2.3 option in the build selection dropdown in the launcher? I don't see a new server version anywhere.
