I think that the Technic Pack should get some kind of power converting mod like PowerCrystal’s Power Converters to convert IndustrialCraft power to Buildcraft and vicea-versa. This is very much needed. If there is already some way just inform me. What would be better though, is if IndustrialCraft and Buildcraft and Redpower combined to form the best mod ever, owned by a group of awesome mod-makers. Reply if you agree! -Jarjacksn MOD EDIT: Don't do this
they had powercrystals converters in previous version, but removed because i think its not compatible with newest version of buildcraft. but for now you can use forestry "electrical engine" to convert EU into buildcraft power. btw might wanna remove that signature...
there was a bit of a debate about this on the Minecraft Forums Forestry Mod thread a couple days back....Sir Sengir (Forestry mod creator) made the point that it's possible to balance one, but not really both.
I think the electric engines are enough. Something about using BC stuff to power IC2 stuff just doesnt feel right to me. That said, I do hope the power converters are updated. Personal preferences aside, its a good option to have.
I've always found the IC2 to have a better system for power and advanced machinery while the buildcraft quarry and the pipe control is fantastic.
great, we still can turn EU into MJ. But I want to get that water strainer, I've had enough of water in my oil proccessing circuit and if you pump out of the oceans you'll always have some water being pumped up as well. Asside from that the oil fabricator was something I really liked too, using pipes and railcraft it enabled e to distribute power to all of my fortresses without loss of power due to distance. The same goes for the supreme power source for the nether the geothermal MKII, all stuff that powerconverters gave, all stuff I am missing. Also it gave a great fuelless power source for IC2 in the form of massive redstone engine farms(obviously with solar pannels on the roof). Though I must say they don't give as good of a power to room ratio as an nuclear power plant, but hey no fuel requirement and no chance of meltdown, and who gives a damn about room in the endlessly generating world of minecraft.
tbh the engine generators(half of MJ converted into EU/t. Four combustion engines running on fuel = 10 eu/t) and oil converters(never used, but wasn't it something like 100k EU = 1 bucket of oil?) had such pathetically awful conversion rates, you would have been better off dumping all the materials into an EE energy condenser to make coal to burn in a generator or steam engine.
The conversion rate on oil fabricators seemed horrible, but it was actualy equal with the direct conversion of EU to MJ, then with some more power you could refine it into fuel and voila energy profit. Also I would like to see you put solar energy into your energy condenser. ;D And turning MJ into EU worked quite fine, I think something was off in your conversion rates.
Let your combustion engine add its energy directly to the engine generator, instead of having conductive pipes inbetween. That way you'll have 12.5 EU/t per engine. At least in Tekkit 1.1.4 that worked. Combustion engine 5 MJ/tick, engine generator 2.5*MJ = EU. No losses since no conductive pipes.
yeah the buildcraft pipes bleed MJ when you want to convert it to EU. I never seem to get the problem with buildcraft to buildcraft stuff though.(wilst often my refinery is quite a stretch of piping away from the powerplant) If you want to transport energy over vast distances(with minimal energyloss) use either fiber optic cable(combined with MFE's to keep nearly all energy where it should go) and the least possible buildcraft piping, or turn it into oil with the oilfab(though that will require combustion engines on the other end).
Pretty much, and for turning massive mazes of piping into manageable forms. I mean massive automation systems require a lot of piping.
When I first got buildcraft, the only oil I could find was over 1000m away. I built a huge piping system and was excited to finally get combustion engines to work. I turned it on and let it run for about an hour, alternating redstone engines trains so nothing exploded. Framerate dropped. Game froze. Couldn't start the map. I felt like an idiot.
I was under the impression that we could alter the conversion values of all of the blocks in this mod.
Personally i want to see power converters back for a few reasons, the electrical engine is good and all, but to make the power you would get from power converters will crash/extreme server lag. so i want to see someone update it or i might as well do it.
