I've never tried out Tekkit before, even though it's included in the launcher. I was just wondering what the difference between the two are.
Yes and no. Technic includes several mods like BetterDungeons, Mo' Creatures, Thaumcraft 2, etc. that Tekkit doesn't and can't because they're not multiplayer compatible. So, they do offer different experiences, and you can play Tekkit singleplayer if you wish. Neowulf's explanation was just the simpler one.
