Launcher won't work.

Question

Launcher Version: Latest

Operating System: Windows XP

Java Version: Latest

Antivirus Program: Microsoft Security Essentials

Description of Problem:

Ok, so when I try to download the .Exe, it always gives me an error that says that Technic Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. I Don't know why this is, but whatever. If you have a solution to that, Please do tell.

But, Then I installed the .Jar file, and renamed it to a .Zip file. I renamed the file to .Jar, and tried to open it, gave me an error saying: Error: Invalid or Corrupt Jarfile C:\Documents and Settings\dell\Application Data\.techniclauncher\Technic-Launcher-OSX.Jar . Please help with this problem, As my brother downloaded it and had no problems whatsoever, and we have the exact same laptop. And he won't stop rubbing it in >:/

Error Messages:

See Above

Error Log:

None

Why did you change the extension to .zip? Don't do that. Just download the .jar file and use it. You only need to rename it if the extension is something other than .jar.

First check here:

http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/common-problems-and-solutions.10851/

Troubleshoot:

Make sure your anti-virus and firewalls are disabled while trying to connect to minecraft.net (while logging in, connecting to a server)

Uninstall Java, then delete your .techniclauncher folder. Restart your computer (it's not required, but it never hurts to give it a break)

Reinstall the correct version of Java for your computer (ensure the bit type matches)

Redownload the Launcher.

Try to run the .exe, if this does not work, look in your .techniclauncher folder, make sure you have a .jar file in there.

If you do not, and the .exe doesn't work, do this:

I am getting a “Technic Launcher has Stopped Working Error”!

If your launcher is encountering this error, a solution is to download the .jar file from http://www.technicpack.net/download/ (pick the third from the left (Linux/Jar)). If you are using Internet Explorer you will also need to change the file extension (the ending of the file) to .jar instead of .zip. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is double-click on the file to run the launcher.

If double click doesn't work with the .jar:

Right click on the .jar file, open with Java.

If none of those work, try running as administrator.

Haha, Nevermind, It turns out the problem was that I was saving it to the Desktop, When I should've been saving to Documents. Silly me.

You downloaded the Mac version of the launcher to use on a computer with WindowsXP? No wonder you're having issues...

Actually, I downloaded the Linux/.Jar file. I got it to work though.

Care to post it here for others who had similar problems?

I have windows 8 64bit and I'm having this same problem. I have tried deleting the Launcher.exe the .techniclauncher folder and the technic.jar (in App Data). When I downloaded it, I still have the same problem. Any Ideas?
