launcher freezes on "querying update stream"

when I try to open the launcher it gets frozen in the technic logo underneath written querying update stream. I've already tried reinstalling Java 64 a lot of times and putting different versions, without success. If I uninstall java 64 and leave only 32 with open launcher, but when I try to open the game it closes as soon as I enter.

can anybody help me?

1. Search for "Command Prompt" in the windows search bar.

2. Click on the result that says "Command Prompt

3. Type in 

java -version

4. Copy and paste(or screenshot) the entire output here.

Did you guys ever figure it out? It does the same on my mac running Catalina. It's been doing it since the update. But i'm running Java 8 v271.

   So annoying!

I too am running on Mac - did you figure it out? makes no sense.
