  1. IIRC, the mini NES is actually more powerful than the Wii. :psyduck:

That reminds me, I need to look at getting an SNES emulator on my 3DS.

    I'm impressed that exists, honestly.

Now to get a SNES emulator running in a 3DS emulator running on my emulated Android phone which uses a JVM which...

Okay, in all seriousness, I do rather enjoy having a (non-3)DS emulator on my phone.

ALSO: DIRT 3 is *free* right now on the humble store -> https://www.humblebundle.com/store/dirt-3-complete-edition-free-game

    I have returned. Howdy everyone.

    Welcome back.

    Also, I've realized something:

Microsoft powershell can be split up into Microsoft Powers Hell

    iDOOMinati confirmed.

EDIT: Why am I such a sucker for these games?

I'd buy it instantly but I'm worried I'd just start ditching schoolwork to learn javascript instead.

So... why do you want to join Reddit?

    I already lurk around on /r/amd, /r/nvidia, /r/hardware, /r/warframe, /r/netrunner, and /r/anime.

I've decided against it though, for now. Being able to reply and vote would just waste even more time, something I already have no problem doing.

Bought about 400 worth of computer parts on Friday. Turns out the rx 480 card that I got doesn't want to play nice with the mobo so that's gonna be another ~$100 for a new one + new case. It'll all be worth it though.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

If you're playing at 180p that card'll last you quite a while, depending on what you want to play. Did you get 4 or 8GB with it?

I should have specified, I guess.
I don't mean "junker used". Like, "160,000 km on the odometer, but in really good condition, just one spot of rust that's been fixed properly".

This is a "good for the next decade" build (hopefully). €2800. Which... I guess is pretty dang excessive, but it means I can get on for a good bit.
Here's the parts. It does include a Windows license, and construction costs are included, of course. So, if you're intending on building it yourself, you'll likely end up quite a bit cheaper.

Corsair Carbide Air 540 ATX Cube - silber
ASUS Maximus VIII HERO, Intel Z170 Mainboard - Sockel 1151
Intel Core i7-6700K 4,0 GHz (Skylake) Sockel 1151 - tray
    Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H100i V2 Komplett-Wasserkühlung
Corsair Vengeance LPX Series schwarz DDR4-2133, CL13 - 32 GB Kit
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition, 8192 MB GDDR5X
Corsair CS-M Series CS650M Modular Netzteil, schwarz - 650 Watt
    Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD, M.2 Typ 280-D3-M (NGFF) - 512 GB
Western Digital Red, SATA 6G, Intellipower, 3,5 Zoll - 1 TB
Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64 Bit, DSP/SB - DVD (englisch)
Creative Sound Blaster ZXR - Retail

How much is delivery/assembly running you? I didn't go and price everything out, so I could be totally wrong, but €2800 seems a bit high.

  6. Looks like Zen might just be AMD's ticket back to CPU relevancy.

Obviously this is a cherry-picked benchmark, but if they can get within spitting distance of high-end Intel and don't completely futz the pricing, I think they'll have a winner on their hands.

Also, apparently the American DoJ has finally realized commercial prisons are a terrible idea. Finally.

EDIT: Someone should make a cringy teenage version of Winrar and call it WinrawrXD

  7. In all seriousness, I have been enjoying Jojo's Bizarre Adventure quite a bit. I'm only a few episodes in, but it's fantastic so far.

My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu hit me like a pallet of bricks, especially in the second season. Probably because I relate to the main character a little too well. The animation is solid though, and they tend to avoid a lot of the common anime rom-com pitfalls, (harems, fanservice, etc.). I also like that they spend a fair amount of effort on the body language of the characters, it adds a nice layer to the dialogue. Definitely not a show everyone will enjoy, but I've loved it so far, just a few episodes left.

FLCL was great, finished that a little while ago. It makes pretty much zero sense, but it was also great because of that.

Selector Infected WIXOSS, (only the first season), was kind of a wild ride. Not sure how I feel about contuining that one. It's Yugioh crossed with Madoka Magica. I cannot overstate how accurate that comparison is.

Halfway through Serial Experiments Lain; not even sure what to say about this. I understand it even less that FLCL and I don't think FLCL was meant to be "understood", really. Great atmosphere/worldbuilding though. I give it telephone wires/10.

Fate/Stay Night, (the original series), is hot garbage as far as I'm concerned. Pacing is awful, main character is a complete doorknob who takes nothing seriously, animation is meh... yeah, I stopped watching about halfway through. Can anyone testify that Fate/Zero or Unlimited Blade Works is worth watching if I hated /stay night?

  8. Wikipedia quote of the day, (from the Twitter Wikipedia page, on the topic of the most tweets per second measured.);

"The current record as of August 3, 2013 was set in Japan, with 143,199 tweets per second during a television screening of the movie Castle in the Sky[45] (beating the previous record of 33,388, also set by Japan for the television screening of the same movie).[46]
