  1. I have windows defender, the most basic AV known to man, (There's an exception for it anyways) And MAB, MAB would ell me if it blocked

Could you please try disabling MAB? It may not be blocking it directly, but it might be doing something more subtle that causes the launcher to freak out and die. I know it sounds stupid, but I've seen far dumber things make the launcher spazz out.

Other than that, I'm not really coming up with much, other than to nuke your .technic folder, re-download the launcher, and try everything again from scratch.

All I can see, (In the second chunk of the log. The first one contains even less useful information), is that the launcher starts, you hit play for the voltz pack, and it goes to download, gets a few mods and hashes them successfully, starts getting powercrystals stuff, and dies without a trace. Maybe I'm just missing something here, (If someone else can see what I'm missing, by all means, enlighten me!) but that's what I see.

If you want to try to get another log in the hopes that this one will be more useful, I'll be happy to look at it though.

  2. So, I'm assuming you've tried disabling all of your antivirus programs and then running it, right? That often causes problems.

The log file is odd though, it doesn't show anything bad happening as far as I can tell, it just stops downloading a mod suddenly, (after successfully getting others), and dies without a sound.

My best guess based on the evidence you've given is that something external is killing the launcher.

  3. I'm planning on writing some books that guide you through installing, playing, and (possibly) make mods

Full stop. Books, as in, published books? Or more like an online collection of guides?

Regardless, there are a lot of ways that you could approach this. You could write a wiki-style reference, or more of a guide-type material, or an analysis of common and different aspects of different mods.

  4. i more then a little rusty with lua so maybe im missing something, i only really used it for door control and frame control.

do something with the startup program, just make sure to add a 0.25-1 second os.sleep.

Do correct me if I am wrong, but I believe your answer is already there. Just have your startup program run whatever is needed to do one more block of mining. It moves, gets reset, and mines another block, sending it to storage before moving again. And so on and so forth.

  5. Wow! I wish I got to meet him!

Oh that actually might have been me. I bought some Swedish fish and an underdesk keyboard shelf that I couldn't fit in my bag to take back to Canada.

    Wow. Small world, eh?

Don't worry, soon enough you'll be able to get one. :) :) :)

    Is that an official announcement?

(Personally, I'm not all that interested in buying one of the stock Technic T-shirts that were at Minecon right now... but I would totally be all over a shirt with this on it, if someone could tell me how to get one.)

  6. Great looking stuff! It's good to find some digital circuits using redpower, seems to be nearly all the hardcore digital minecrafters use vanilla... Is this project still ongoing? What did you base your arithmetic logic on?

I found your design via the allmaster google while hunting ALU's. I've been experimenting with modulated signals myself, using a combination of repeaters plus and gates with some considerable success. I have almost completed a 5x5 animated display with 2 fps frame rate( with a theoretical improvement to 4fps) and 3 image caches. I can post images later this week if your interested?

I, for one, am very interested in seeing what kind of system you have set up for handling images. How are you generating the image to be displayed?

  7. Wait a second. Everyone knows that example of relativity where two people are the same age, one of them goes on a spaceship traveling at relativistic speed, and when the ship returns to earth, a number of years have passed on earth but not on the spaceship. Right?

But why is the spaceship's frame of reference special? Isn't from that perspective, the earth traveling away at relativistic speeds? :psyduck:

Also, a guy I know keeps claiming that noise pollution somehow directly causes ozone layer depletion. Despite the complete and utter lack of evidence/mentioning for this phenomenon presented by every single website I can find.

    :facedesk:

(Wait, isn't there an emoticon for that?)

  8. That, and I think the atmosphere on these forums is genuinely better than it was before. A fair few whalebox threads only got boxed because someone started an argument with the OP.

That's probably true too to a point. Although there are always going to be some people who simply refuse to be reasonable right off the bat. Can anyone find that thread where munaus gave a link to java, and the OP somehow borked up his install and went completely off the rails? Or was that series removed?

  9. Do you want this to go into the Whale Box as well?

True... We haven't had a new one in like what... 6 months? I think we've gotten too good at tripping/helping noobs/pirates after only a post or two.

Next pirate that comes along claiming that he needs a direct download that works with the vanilla launcher because his network is slow, I say we play dumb.

  10. 3 hard drive slots? Its not really going to be any more portable than a desktop at that rate! XD

I beg to differ. Put a desktop in your backpack. Put it on. Now put a 10 pound laptop rig into your backpack. Put it on. Still lighter, many times thinner, and infinitely easier to set up, not to mention it has a battery.

I will say this though...that is a particularly large amount of money to spend on a computer. I'd seriously consider that for at least a week or two. Is it really worth 2.3K to you to have this?

  11. Looks alright I guess. It's not an apple or an alienware, so we did make some progress. I still feel like a $2000 laptop is a waste.

I'm just trying to figure out how they fit 3 (3!!) hard drive slots in the thing with all that ram, AFAIK the best mobile card money can buy, a good i7 processor, and cooling for that nuclear furnace of a machine.... I suppose you get what you pay for.

  12. I'm not sure why everyone feels the need to have a laptop that's so thin or light. I'd rather have a big 'ol beast of a laptop that costs 500$ less, gives slightly better performance, and doesn't have heating issues. I'm just going to throw it in my backpack anyways, so why would an extra pound or two matter?
