  1. Anyone want a key for Skullgirls? I also have another one for Planetary Annihilation if anyone wants it.

Also, the server will be updated to the newest build tomorrow.

    The server has been updated.

    Also, this is great/terrifying.

    http://arstechnica.com/security/2015/10/usb-killer-flash-drive-can-fry-your-computers-innards-in-seconds/

I mean, it wasn't hard to do with a disposable camera flash before, but the fact that he got the thing into a regular-ish looking USB drive, (and uses the computer's own power against it), is quite impressive. Also makes it a *lot* easier to trick people into plugging them into computers.

"Yeah, I found this contraption with a circuit board, big batteries, and lots of wires all over in the parking lot. It had a USB port, so I plugged it into my computer. Not sure why but it stopped working after that."

  2. knew i was missing somebody here. long time no talk you fiend!

    IN OTHER NEWS:

i went through all my old statuses and i found fat omalax. new avatar for now

also, i found where all the spam threads go! they make up the last 50 pages of OT

Woah, you're right. Never saw those before. I thought spam threads got deleted when the user was spam-cleaned.

  3. Alright, many thanks. Will get on later today.

That's great. IC2 was really one of the things that this modpack was still missing.

EDIT: It seems I still cannot get on the server. Is it on right now?

Sadly, and rather irritatingly, I'm having somewhat severe problems with the internet connection, (as those who kept getting dropped by the server may have noticed), which is odd, because it's been completely solid for over a year, and of course now it suddenly decides to be flakey. I suspect our network is entirely down right now, not there to check/fix it. Techs are scheduled to come Thursday, and I've specifically set aside time to be there in person when they come. Until then, I have no idea what times the server will be connected, but I've left it on so that you can at least play while the network is working. (For the past few days it's been working most of the time, maybe try back in an hour.)

Don't worry I already pestered him about it.  They added IC2 which is cool.

Sorry, had family over, couldn't find an excuse to lock myself in the basement with the server for an hour. I'm working on upgrading a copy of the server I made this morning right now. (Don't worry, I'll copy the maps, so any changes you guys manage to make today before I get back will stick.)

EDIT: Server's updated, no problems transitioning, other than maps being reset.

EDIT AGAIN: Turns out teleporting via map has been disabled, despite my vast and unknowable copy-paste skills. I think I'll leave it like that though, to encourage building railroads and such. Also, I've scattered a handful of IC2 rubber trees in the already-generated area, so you shouldn't have to go too far to find one.

  4. Fixed the network problems. Speedtest ping is now 6ms, and our upload speed went from ~4mbit to ~40mbit.

So yeah, server should be better now, and if it starts degrading again, now I know how to fix it.

Teraku, you should be unblocked now. As well as any ireland/scotland/england/whales people. With the better network response, it might actually work reasonably well overseas now.

  5. Where is the server located, anyway? I've had some pretty bad experience with servers in the US, I live in Europe and mining and combat is pretty much impossible on US servers, especially West Coast.

Anyway I cannot seem to join. Is the server off, or am I blocked by the firewall?

You're being blocked by the firewall.

The server is located in the western US. The upload speed is *supposed* to be more than enough, (it's about 30 mbit), but there has been some occasional network lag for some people, so it might not be the best server for you. I can unblock you if you still want to try though.

  6. Alright guys, the Official Kitty Jail Tekkit Legends server is officially OPEN. :frogsiren:

Rules: Be cool. Don't grief, steal, etc. I neither want nor expect to have to make some exhaustive list of rules.

    The server address is:  spence.mooo.com

(No, that's not my name, I just borrowed the address.)

    Things to note:

    • I have left mobgriefing enabled, but I, (or an op), will compensate/refund you if exessssssive damages are caused by this, (IE: creeper in your machine room.)
    • All chunk-loading is enabled, but please keep it reasonable, as the server isn't super duper powerful. Please no more than one or two chunkloading devices per person.
    • PvP is enabled.
    • The server difficulty is set to Normal.
    • The server should be on 24/7, but if anything happens to it, let me know either here or on Steam, and I'll fix it ASAP.

I have made a few custom config file tweaks, the significant ones are listed below:

    - Buildcraft engines -can- explode from overheating, but in return, combustion engines are 1.6x as efficient with fuel, and are 1.2x as efficient with oil.
    - Base fluid flow rate of buildcraft pipes has been doubled.
    - Water springs are generated in worldgen.
    - Bedrock is smooth.
    - Big Reactors can be made *much* larger but produce 90% of base power.
    - Yellorite Ore spawns in slightly larger veins.
    - Nether Ore explosions are slightly more powerful. (Now equivalent to a creeper.)
    - Nether Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby ores now smelt into 3 ore instead of 2.
    - Volcanos are slightly more common.
    - Logistics crafting tables use roughly half as much energy as before.
    - Vanilla Ender Chests can be crafted and placed.
    - Ender-Storage (mod) chests are twice as big.
    - Doubled wireless ComputerCraft modem range across the board. (High altitude, low altitude, stormy, etc.)
    - Lowered the per-piece armor limit of powersuit armor from 6 to 4.
    - Powersuit electrolyser costs one *quarter* as much energy to use. Only 250 energy.
    - Powersuit plasma cannon costs much more energy to use, but with voltage/amperage increases, it can be twice as explodey, and hit a bit harder. (Be careful with this!)
    - Powersuit railgun makes more heat, takes more energy, and hits a bit harder.
    - Powersuit pickaxe uses a tiny bit more energy.

If any of these changes cause catastrophic/awful/stupid things to happen, tell me and I'll revert them and/or refund/compensate you.

    Enjoy! :tipshat:

  7. I can see why you'd want to remove Project E. I've already worked out an admittedly slow infinite EMC loop with just a crafting table, transmutation tablet, and tons of gold, and don't even get me started on blaze machines. Oh, and Project E assigns EMC values to crafted items and makes them transmutable, so a large chunk of auto-crafting is unnecessary.

See, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic.  I read that as "I can't see why" the first time around.

...at one point it announced it had dropped 1000+ ticks in one error message.

Wait, that's 50 seconds. That can't be right. I mean, it wasn't super playable, but it wasn't THAT bad.

EDIT: Tried Fastcraft, no dice. It was a bit faster, but not enough. Strangely, the server reports a steady 20tps and reasonable tick times of ~20-30ms when I use /cofh tps. (Both with and without fastcraft.)

Changing the render distance from default to 6 chunks to max made no noticeable difference, either.

  8. Just throw fastcraft in there, it should help a lot with tps.

I'll try it as soon as I figure out a way to get around the angry firewall I'm behind right now, it's blocking the download.

I don't know if it'll help enough though, I tested it out with a real client, and at one point it announced it had dropped 1000+ ticks in one error message. I removed EE and it helped a little bit, but it's still unplayable.

  9. Er...

So I just installed and ran the server. I've got plenty of RAM, but CPU wise... not quite sure yet. The pack is beefier than I thought.

I'll do some testing, (when I get the chance, probably in 4-5 hours), to see if it's up to par.

    Nevermind, it's dropping ticks.

Sorry for getting your hopes up, but I don't have any available hardware much stronger than this.

EDIT: I have an idea. I'll have to test it out, will let you know if it works, might be a few days.

  10. Alright, question time. :pcgaming:

I've got this fresh install of Debian 8 on an old-ish machine that is suitable for a minecraft server. (And a killer upload speed of about 30mbit/s to boot.) I was planning on running a Tekkit Legends server for us all to romp around on.

My problem is, I rather dislike the OP-ness of Equivalent Exchange. I was thinking of maybe disabling it, disabling certain parts of it, or changing the recipes.

What opinions do you nerds normal attractive people have on this matter? I haven't played with EE in heaven-knows how long, so maybe my dislike of EE is a tad misplaced. I'm perfectly willing to leave it untouched if that's what you guys want. Otherwise, if I were to change/disable it, what would be the cleanest way to do it?

  11. "We've decided on an entirely new exciting direction for Tekkit, and as a result, Tekkit will no longer feature Thermal Expansion, Project Red, Calclavia Core, Buildcraft, Galcticraft, qCraft, Carpenter's Blocks, Applied Energistics, Mystcraft, or Steve's Carts. In order to focus on this new revolutionary direction, going forward, Tekkit will exclusively contain Magic-focused, Gun-focused, and Sword Art Online-themed mods."

Yeah guys, that's what's going to...

    Wait, Forestry? Railcraft?

    Somehow that's even weirder.

Pffft, "Explosive History" you guys kill me.

  12. Neither can I. Will report it.

You have posted here. Your fate is sealed. You can never leave now.

EDIT: Well I guess you could. You already posted anyways. Man I'm tired...

pay no attention to the very tired man behind the curtian.

EDIT AGAIN: Here's an interesting question. If a person was in a self-driving car, which hit someone while driving itself, and did nothing to prevent the accident, even though they were in the driver's seat, could they be charged with anything?

I look forward to self-driving cars, but wow there's a lot of funky ethical questions to be asked.

  13. Well, for when you're building a PC yourself, PCpartpicker.com has a compatibility/dimensions check, so maybe you aren't guaranteed to have no problems, you can still be very sure.  The risk is worth it imo to avoid the markup.  And I'm pretty sure Acer checks all of their dimensions as well. :P

Or you could just buy a massive full-tower case and not care.
