I did take a look at the Big Dig pack myself, and I have to admit, it looks pretty damn cool. Depending on how much free time I have this week, I might just hook up the old server box and get a test server for it running.
After 7am Monday morning, I can give you a hand getting it going.

hmmm i was on earlier, and now it wont let me on with the whole failed to verify username... i reinstalled java and still nothing. quite odd. also severe amounts of lag when i was on.
I had the same issue. I found that reinstalling java shouldnt do anything to fix this, but reinstalling the pack might. But if the problem is affecting both servers, then I dont know why that solved it.

Ok, I would like to announce my proposal for the..................wait for it.........................................
Resiliance Freebuild - Annual Wargames!
Now before we go crazy, this isnt a "war" wargame. Its Capture The Flag. Once we get people signed up, we will split you up into teams or let you run along with your own crazy self. A few days prep time will be given before and between rounds so you can build fortifications and plan your own attacks.
Ofcourse, if someone is not involved in the games, you cannot go crazy and kill them and claim their stuff as a flag. Nuff said on that. Also, I will post a list of items that are not allowed during play like armors that make you god, ect.

Sorry about that server. My home network is rather complicated and as an result. I can actually forward the minecraft ports to the server needed because of how deep it is down the network infrastructure. Sorry bout that.

Alright, coming up. Going to play around with bukkit for a bit and have an IP shortly. Wont be anything special (Amd Phenom X3, 4gb ram, decent connection)
Anyone got any ideas what we should do? I figure we should all do one project as its just a temp server, but lets do something fun!

Well, I got nothing better to do while I recover from surgery, so would any like me to toss up a tekkit or voltz server while we wait?

I played on a (vanilla) server that tried to copy-paste important structures from old maps to new maps when the terrain generation code changed. It did not work well. Everything needed to be gone over by hand to make sure redstone worked properly and blocks were positioned properly. Coming from someone with one of the larger more complex builds on the server, if/when we eventually reset. I'd rather go whole hog and reset everything and everyone, Than try to copy-paste because with how hard it was in vanilla. I can only imagine how hard it would be with all the new stuff added by tekkit.
I agree with TehTub. Its not that it is impossible, but its really hard. Epescially if the structure goes under the surface.

Instead of posting each day the server is down, give the man a break and let him solve the problems........just go do something else meanwhile...when the server gets back up you can most likely expect a status update from KS, just have some patience....
I dont care how long it takes to come back up. Its up when its up. Just saying, as of right now, still down.

Why not just load the tekkit classic map on the big dig. If a block isnt available, it turns to sand. So we clean up some sand in out city?
