It doesn't necessarily matter, and I could understand the mixup. That's one of the reasons you didn't get a warning. Necromancy's only bad if it's been a really long time (3 months plus, in my book), or it's off topic.

You need to provide more information. There's not an official bug board for the platform yet, but there is one for the launcher. Please go create a bug report there.

If you get banned, it will be for starting a flame war, being rude, or name-calling. Feel free to describe why FtB is better, in as few words as possible so we can understand you. If you use more words, you'll probably have a mental meltdown, and we won't be able to understand you any more. If you waited without playing, Minecraft isn't just going to spontaneously download stuff while it's not running. Also, you were called lazy mostly because you didn't say anything other than "it doesn't work, why?" - you were assumed not to have tried anything.

You actually didn't. I assumed the server was also in the EU, because you said people could connect from there. It sounds like you simply have server lag that may result from a communications error. Has he tried updating Java on his end? I fixed many of my lag issues by doing that and reinstalling the pack I was playing with. Just make sure to back up everything.

This is true of any sounds that might come with mods, but the sounds for the vanilla game are not downloaded with the .jar, so you have to wait for those. I'd guess it's an easy way to get people started playing with a really small download, then follow up with sounds later.

If you just installed Minecraft in the new location (which you said you did), the \resources folder, which contains the sounds, slowly downloads over time - it's not installed with Minecraft. See if the sounds show up over the next couple/few hours.

Yeah, that's a DirectX glitch, and usually means the graphics card is dying, or at the very least insufficient for the current application. It could mean it's overheating. Try updating drivers, but keep the old ones just in case. If that doesn't work, I suggest moving to a lower resolution of your texture pack.
