Immense lag on a tekkit classic server in Tekkit Classic Discussion Posted September 12, 2013 Muddiless, what is your network infrastucture look like. Looking back on your original post and you are saying it was working perfectly fine, you might have something going on with your layer 2 or 3 protocols causing issues with your packets being dropped and causing lots of lag. Also, you have to remember that once a server is started it could be fine, but the more you load the more the server has to work especially if you start dropping world and dimensional anchors around the place...you can grow a server file from 10-20mb to over 100 in a few days depending on what you are doing in game. I can only really narrow down your issues to either a layer2 or 3 issue and you need to power cycle your network or ensure your hardware is operating properly (make sure you are pulling proper bandwidth with a speedtest), or on my original post being that your amount of RAM on your system may not be enough. Depending on your OS and background processes, you could be overtaxing the amount of RAM you are needed to have to run a proper server...just because the graphics do not look amazing in minecraft doesn't mean it wont tax a computer or server...there is a lot of stuff going on in the background. I would suggest checking your network infrastructure and ensure that it is all working properly...if so, then you need to take a hard look at increasing your RAM...not an expensive upgrade, but might be worth it...and it is a lot better than having to go buy a whole new system. This can all be summarized down to, get more ram, get a better network, kill unneeded processes, and manage your chunk loader usage. This is pretty much the gist of what he said just in a way more drawn out and convoluted fashion. It's not really useful to list off random stuff that could be wrong without telling him how to fix the random stuff you list off.
