  1. I've been that "mature" kid in the past.  here's a secret though: I wasn't really very mature.  I was playing grown up, which is kind of like being mature but without all the life experience to back it up.  were I to run a PUBLIC server (which I don't and won't for many reasons), I would certainly institute an age floor.  you can complain that it's "unfair" if you want.   you can wax poetic about how someone has to teach these impressionable young skulls full of mush how to behave, but the problem is that I shouldn't have to be that guy.  you want to know who's supposed to teach them how to behave?  their parents.  if I wanted to be some kid's father figure, I'd go make an actual kid of my own instead and be a real father.  I don't run minecraft servers to play step-dad to random 13 year olds on the internet or whatever.

trying to take every wayward youth that comes along under your wing takes time.  a LOT of time.  time I don't have.

the truth is that it's not a perfect world out there filled with perfect people.  age restrictions aren't around because anyone over the age of X is "mature", they're around because people over the age of X are less likely to be a raging moron than people under the age of X.  want proof of that?  think about how you acted 5 years ago.  think about what you thought/believed/knew 5 years ago.  you were stupid as fuck 5 years ago, weren't you?  there you go.

    TL;DR:

    it's risk management.

server OPs are not surrogate parents.

  2. you can simply remove those mods from the mods folder for that pack.  this will prevent you from joining servers running the pack though, so just be aware of that.

also, keep in mind that you can't remove just bits and pieces of a given mod like this.  for instance, in your example with bees forestry is the mod that adds the bees, but it also adds farms and various other things.  unless the mod is setup as multiple modules, like project red or buildcraft, it's not possible pick and choose with this method.

another option would be to just leave the mod in and not mess with whatever facet you don't like.

a third option would be to wade into the config files and disable the blocks/items/mechanics that you don't like/want from a given mod.  most mods are actually surprisingly configurable if you don't mind sifting through the configs.  for instance, if you have multiple types of, say, copper spawning you could change the configs for some of the mods spawning copper to make them stop, leaving you with just one set to generate copper.

  3. do you feel better now?

    yes?

good, because I'm about to fix that.  take a second and consider the kind of person who would post "help meh" type threads in off-topic.  they've already ignored basically all the text on the page, scrolled past the bug tracker, general technic sections, etc. and ignored global announcement posts in order to decide that here is the place to cry out for help.  this person is probably young and/or very computer illiterate.  they most likely have no idea how the internet in general works, or how forums are generally structured.  you expect a post that would only matter if they come to this section, see a thread with a title that doesn't look like " :siren: FIX UR MINECRAFT FAST NOW 100% WORKS UGG BOOTS :siren: ", click on it, read it, and then actually stop for 2 seconds to think about what they're doing to make any sort of difference in the behavior of that group as a whole?  I sure don't.

in making this thread you are like sisyphus trying to roll the stone up that hill, it's an exercise in futility.

  4. on the whole, the amount of spam we get is pretty small.  it's also reported quickly usually and deleted swiftly as well.  you may not enjoy the occasional cheap ugg boot, but the system we have in place right now is working pretty well IMO.

  5. if you're running a 32-bit CPU/OS, there is little that you can do unfortunately.  mods nowadays are pretty much geared towards 64-bit environments and 2 gigs of ram.  there's just no getting around it.

the only way to avoid these issues is to play a pack that doesn't have a large number of mods.  the exact number would depend on which mods were in it though.  it'd be hard to predict how it would work without trial and error.

  6. tekkit has a lot of what you're looking for.  probably the one thing it doesn't have that you mentioned is a lot of additional biomes and agriculture focused mods.  there are plenty of things to farm, but nothing like biomes o plenty is in it.

on the other hand, it has all the techy stuff you could possibly want.  there are a few things in it that could be more "pvp" type things, but they are either totally ignorable, or have some uses outside of that.

hexxit is very much adventure focused, so probably not what you're looking for.

attack of the B-team has a lot of neat stuff in it as well and may be worth a look for you, even though some mods like witchery have some pvp focused elements you don't HAVE to mess with them

big dig may also be worth a look, although it is not as updated.  big dig is a more "casual" pack if you will in that ores are set to spwan much more frequently and at larger ranges, making it easy to get what you need to start building.

personally, I would try tekkit (the main version, not lite or classic) first.  see how you like that, then go from there.

edit: rereading your post, the pack you saw was almost certainly attack of the B-team.  give it a shot

  7. I clearly just stated that I have no idea what's going on, but seeing my permissions file isn't going to help any if they work in the main world and nethers, as well as any other dimensions other then galacticraft.

he's saying that if you're going to argue, he's not going to bother trying to help you.  by saying "it isn't going to help because..." you're implying that you do have some idea what's going on and assuming things about how everything is working.

troubleshooting without complete information is a fruitless endeavor.

  8. my first account worked but then stopped so i made a new mojang account but i have not bought minecraft thats why i have technic launcher but not even my mojang account works and i use my school computer and they blocked mine craft so we got technic launcher and neither one of my accounts work and before they blocked the mine craft i had a mine craft account but i don't remember it

you need to have bought the game for the launcher to work.

  9. OP, I'm going to be merciful and be real with you for a minute instead of being overly sarcastic.

stop.  stop posting in this thread, and go focus on making your pack.  when you have something put together that you like, come back and make a new thread in the appropriate section with the understanding that not everyone is required to love or even like what you have made and that is totally ok

you'll feel a lot better about yourself and life will be much easier that way.

  10. we've actually implemented a little countermeasures for this recently.  as far as our official packs go, the mirrors hosting them will not work without a valid MC login token now.  when it comes to platform packs, there's really little that we can do for the reasons neowulf already stated.

so we do what we can, where we can but it's not a battle that will ever be won and we know this.
