I'd feel sorry for Kocken, but the lousy bastard deserves the worst punishment we have here.
Double posting like some sort of hooligan. The filthy delinquent.

(Right. That seems about right then, in terms of pricing. Thanks for looking it up.)

I'd say it's fair, I price-searched the parts on the swedish site prisjakt.se and came up with a grand total of 27179 swedish crowns which is about 2844€.
EDIT: Darn, I double posted. Well, it was fun knowing you all.

If you're playing at 180p that card'll last you quite a while, depending on what you want to play. Did you get 4 or 8GB with it?

I should have specified, I guess.
I don't mean "junker used". Like, "160,000 km on the odometer, but in really good condition, just one spot of rust that's been fixed properly".

This is a "good for the next decade" build (hopefully). €2800. Which... I guess is pretty dang excessive, but it means I can get on for a good bit.
Here's the parts. It does include a Windows license, and construction costs are included, of course. So, if you're intending on building it yourself, you'll likely end up quite a bit cheaper.

    So.
I have the computer I want on the screen here. All the parts, it's all there.
I have the money, and I have no further commitments coming up that I want to keep it for.

Why haven't I clicked "order" yet?
Because for the same money, I can buy two used cars* (A '97 Opel/Vauxhal Astra convertible, and an '01 Volkswagen Polo, if you were interested). That's quite a bit of money. Which is very scary.

Gonna do it anyway! But it's scary!

    * Why two used cars? Why not one more expensive used car? Because that's not how my brain works!

EDIT: Just did it! It's gonna be built soon.

Looks like Zen might just be AMD's ticket back to CPU relevancy.
Obviously this is a cherry-picked benchmark, but if they can get within spitting distance of high-end Intel and don't completely futz the pricing, I think they'll have a winner on their hands.
Also, apparently the American DoJ has finally realized commercial prisons are a terrible idea. Finally.
EDIT: Someone should make a cringy teenage version of Winrar and call it WinrawrXD

    Holyshit reddit, really?
Yesterday I was pleased with myself for breaking 1000 karma after 5 or so months of actual use. Some decent posts, a couple broke the triple digits, and a couple downvoted ones I thought were rather unfair. All in all a nifty milestone.
One comment I made today has garnered 2500 karma in 7 hours. It was a joke comment in an article about the japanese pole vaulter who knocked the bar off with his junk...

Try something with Eggecute--he's gone and mutated now. I'm still laughing at him.

So, Pokemon GO just launched in Europe. I wasn't really interested, until I saw that my towns water tower is a gym. I obviously need to be in control of said gym, so here we go min-maxing! (I really have no idea how it works, but apparently casual cannibalism is the way to victory).
Oh, and Turkey had a kind-of-not-really coup and their leader now wants to go on a killing spree whilst blaming the west and being cheered on by Putin. Fun times.

    *high five*
    Pretty much the same here.
Sure, I could go for a 1070, instead of the 1080. Hell, I could even wait for the 1060, which will be coming out. I would even be satisfied with a 980ti, if it came to that.

But GTX 1080. It's there. I have the money... must have it!

Judging by the parts you have money burning a hole in your pocket!
If you have that much to burn, upgrade to an i7 XXXXK so you get the hyper threading, and a bigger SSD. I went with 128 and wish I had gone bigger. Also consider doing a custom water cooling loop for bonus points in looks!
If you want somthing more price to performance, down scale to a non-K processer (seriously, OCing does next to nothing for games anyways), drop the AIO cooler and go with an aftermarket air-cooler. Literally anything is better than stock. If you're dead set on the 1080 (I dont blame you) then great, otherwise a 1070 is going to be more than enough for the foreseeable future in terms of even the most demanding VR applications. Hell, a 1060 (when it comes) will likely be enough for a few years down the line.
Also look into people who are dropping used 900 series cards in your local area. If you can get a good deal on a 980 or even 980ti, that should be more than enough to power AAA games for the next few years.

I liked Ingress, as it wasn't too bad in terms of "points of interest" as node locations. I actually had one of the lakes and a graveyard near me as two such. Too bad it does a number on the battery--I may just go back to being one of the Renagades when I get a new phone.
I'd suggest a second, standard magnetic disk drive at 1T and bump down the GFX card to at most a 900Ti; you can even get away with a 560Ti if you really wanted to.

Idea: What if when you go to sleep, your consciousness actually dies? And every time you wake up, a new one is born with all the memories of the old?
How would you be able to tell?

Yeah, I'm not an economist but I question the efficacy of having a big pile of currency to dump on the market in case the market decides they don't want your currency anymore...

What kind of attitude is that? I only slept an hour this night because my sleep schedule was rather crap after midsummer but work was still a thing, and I feel fine!

Bunch of news coming out of the UK about brexit buyers remorse.
The Leave party started backtracking on their campaign promises 24 hours after the vote went through, pissing off a LOT of people.
Other voters claim they didn't believe it was real and only voted for the exit out of protest.
And there's a petition to hold a second vote that has 2mil signatures.
Plus there's analysis of the vote that shows the majority voters were 65+, with few millenials voting despite their overwhelming support of staying. And people are arguing that maybe the generation that will have to live with the consequences should have more of a say.

Got paid 11.20€ to rollback a Windows 10 installation today. *writes down IT-admin on my CV-skeleton*
And yeah, the new ToZ looks good but not good enough to buy a TV+console for
Man, VR is really coming along, isn't it? Too bad I'm not a fan of horror games, though I feel like VR horror would result in some broken headsets...

Though I agree on VR horror. I can't stand horror as it is, and I don't want it up in my face...

Points to consider: Age of the people posting (low), sample size we get from people posting (low) and amount of proof that high intelligence is strictly heritable (low).
Even if intelligence is shown to be heritable and eugenics would make sense (which they currently absolutely do not) I'm inclined to treat it like the meat production problem; yes, maybe we could benefit from changing our ways drastically but a lab solution is pretty much around the corner so why bother.
Anyways, kitty jail isn't really a platform for these kinds of politics (if any), so chill and/or make a new thread.

The Dalmatian coast is beautiful. I spent a year in Croatia after college and that summer Joss and I and a couple of friends went down and spent a week each in Split/Makarska/Dubrovnik. Not much to do there though except sightsee and sunbathe.

Yeah I was kinda disappointed nobody even commented on, what at least I thought was, a bloomin' hilarious joke.
EDIT: Nope. Just me being a dumb. Goddamn being awake for too long makes me dumb.
On an unrelated note, am I the only one having trouble seeing what I've typed with this pale-pink-on-white text box?
    It's a bit uncomfortable frankly.
