    Amaxter reacted to dwwojcik in Successor of Tekkit? And lack of Thermal Expansion
    Redstone Arsenal is a TeamCoFH mod, I'm sure CoFH Core is a dependency.  It's also possible that the pack developers used CoFH Core for the ore generation.
    In addition to Railcraft, Engineer's Toolbox has ore-doubling and such.
    Given that Hexxit 2 was promised sooner than Tekkit 2 (Although this may have changed when Skuli left, because I think he was the one that was working on that plan) it's possible that Tekkit Legends is intended to succeed Tekkit Classic (I mean, just look at that mod list) as opposed to Tekkit.

    Amaxter got a reaction from Munaus in Craftfind: Searching for the next Minecraft
    In the wake of Minecraft, what new voxel games will become the next cultural sensation? Maybe none, but in this thread we will explore the best of Steam Greenlight and various other gaming distribution platforms to find some fun stuff to occupy your time! So if you're bored or occasionally get that itch for a blocky inspired game, bookmark this thread and begin your journey! If you find any good games, don't hesitate to let me know and they will be added to this thread (providing links to the games sites/Steam pages is encouraged).

    Amaxter got a reaction from galacticwarrior9 in Project OMNIUS: Modded Minecraft At It's Prime
    Are you ready for Project: Omnius? Maybe you've played modpacks before, but you've never seen modded Minecraft quite like this. Omnius is a massive collection of Minecraft's best mods big and small, famous and new, all of which are awesome. The premiere modded Minecraft experience is here, from industrial expansions to magical explorations, you know this adventure is going to be big!
    Originially inspired from my old pack "Ultra Modded Survival", Omnius is a pack more versatile than any other. It is THE best and easiest way to experience premium engaging modded content in Minecraft. Omnius also includes fetures such as in game NBT Edit, Custom NPC's, in game MineTweaker recipe editing, WorldEdit'ing in singleplayer, and more that allow you to build it YOUR way! So, are you in?

    Nova GalaxyI will make this post better one day, but that day is not today.
    Technic Platform Page
    How to play: Search for "novagalaxy" in the Technic Launcher.
    Description:
    Nova Galaxy has an assortment of various tech and magic mods. Some people call these types of packs: kitchen-sink packs.
    One unique feature that Nova Galaxy has is it's specialized ore generation. Ores generate everywhere, but do so rarely and in small amounts. With the help of your trusty Mining Radar you can prospecting for "super-clusters" in the ocean which contain over 100 clusters of various ores. There are some other changes too, but that can all be read about in the ore generation spreadsheet linked below.
    Another major feature is what I called the "space-based progression". Basically recipes of various blocks and items are changed to require materials that are only found on certain Galacticraft dimensions. You need to travel by space rocket to these dimensions to get the required materials. You can find a complete list of items/blocks affected by the space progression in the doc linked below.

    Amaxter got a reaction from mine_my_own_bizz in Craft-Quest: Searching for the Next Voxel Sensation
    In the wake of Minecraft there hasn't been another voxel style open world game that's been able to replicate it's success. When you think about it, Minecraft really did come out of nowhere, and from a janky game made by one dude with no modding API came one of the largest gaming communities in history. So, how do we prepare for the next big sensation that the kids will be into tomorrow? Well we can't be sure, but staying tuned to this thread's a good way to make some educated guesses!

    As new games in the vein of Minecraft come out everyday from places like Steam Greenlight it can be hard to keep track, so we'll let you know what the good ones are below. To always be in the know, bookmark this thread and check on it whenever you feel like knowing what the hot new voxel games are! If you have a suggestion/know a good one, let us know in a post in this thread and we'll add it! So without further ado let's get started down our journey of finding the next Minecraft!

    This promising Minecraft style space exploration/building game has been in development for a while now and it's matured significantly in the last few months. It's still an early access game on Steam but it runs on anything and is pretty fun, has some cool spaceship stuff!

    While bearing many gameplay resemblances to Minecraft (and making no subtleties about it's inspirations) Terasology is in active development and looks REALLY good, that is graphics wise. If your PC can run it then give it a shot!

    [img=http://playingthecanon.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/photo-main.jpg]

    TUG intends to be a Minecraft style game with neat looking smooth voxels and gameplay inspired by many common mods such as Thaumcraft. For $10 on Steam Early access it's playable, but keep in mind it's still a very WIP alpha.

    [url=http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=302340274]ONE LAST DAY
    One Last Day is a Steam Greenlight game for Mac, Linux, and PC that is a post apocalyptic voxel game set in a zombie apocalypse. Not exactly original, but it looks fun and well done overall with some cool survival elements.

    First off I would like to apologize for my rather rude and undignified forum post, I was in a particularly bad mood when I stumbled on your server. I'm perfectly fine with you making your own server but the /tpa remark just seemed tasteless and still does so props to removing it. Anyways, sorry about that incident before, I have edited the post, hope our servers can coexist!

    Amaxter got a reaction from CanVox in RPG modpacks vs Tech modpacks
    People assume that RPG means "magic". Tech and RPG are not mutually exclusive, aspects we know and love like tech trees are inspired from RPG elements. The best modpacks are the ones that understand how this difference of themes doesn't really matter, what DOES matter is how elements of technological and magical progress are balanced and blend into one cohesive experience for maximum immersion.

    Ok so good job, Calclavia! Gene-ous
    Quickly: My computer: Brand new (like 4 days or so) 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display; Core i7 2.5 GHz (4 cores, turbo boost to 4.0GHz). 16GB DDR3 RAM, Nvidia GeForce 750m with 2GB GDDR5 memory, and 512GB of PCIe SSD goodness. Dual external monitors through HDMI and MDP, external keyboard and gaming mouse, and the mac not in clamshell mode (open) I have tried this on my dads machine (the exact same, just a bit older) with no external monitors, and it doesn't have any of the issues I'm about to 'showcase'.

    Now on to the issue, as you can see my computer is fully capable

    Lets put it plainly. Mac OS X now does not function with any of the launcher versions after launcher 2. With the Launcher 3, It just pulls up a windows Saying: Technic Launcher (which is new) and when the bar finishes loading, it says you need to install a Java 7 Runtime Environment, Trust me I have downloaded and installed the exact thing it leads me to at least three times. So I try to go to the latest Launcher, IT MUST BE BETTER, I thought.

    No, even worse

    All it says (I've tried it on there different downloads) is: The Application Technic Cannot be opened. Might I add, apps from external developers are allowed on my machine. I have gotten the old launcher to boot once and when I do, I get another hellish move of bad programming.
    I haven't tried volts yet, but this is the Minecraft Wars Pack, found here, on Technic.
    If I can get it to boot (1/20 or so) every ten seconds exactly the framerate tanks from 30FPS to 2. Settings are: Smooth Lighting: off. V-sync: off. Aniscoptic (how ever you spell that ^-^) to off. Render distance: 4 chunks, and brightness to max, and max FPS at 30. Tried it with 60+ and It wouldn't even get there.

    None of these issues happen on my dads machine...this 'aint right.

    In the comments, please don't post stupid little things like: Were you in creative, or Was it raining, because I have tried all things like that, so save yourself some time so you don't get carpel tunnel as fast as I do whilst trying to get this thing to work.

    Actually eternal isles does work for 1.7.10, it's a really awesome continuation of Divine RPG.

    Also I believe somebody wrote a script for solder that would automate adding mods by simply providing it with a slug for each one.
