  1. So recently I have been building a massive motor frame airship and thought it would be a good idea to back up my world often in case it glitched out. I did this by using WinRAR (a file compression program like .zip) to compress my world located at .technic\modpacks\tekkit\saves\First World on my C: drive. The problem is something eventually did glitch out, but when I tried to restore the save file with my backed up version the Tekkit Classic client couldn't detect the world. I tried various things such as only replacing the .region files or the .dat files. etc.... Sometimes after this it would recognize the world but when I load it up some of my areas seem to be overwritten by a different seed. One interesting thing I have noticed is that ever since I have started doing the backups of .technic\modpacks\tekkit\saves\First World the total filesize has remained exactly 32,690kb despite each backup having progressively more stuff in the world. This made me think that perhaps Tekkit Classic was saving my world somewhere else so I looked around the .technic folder and found that it was actually saving another copy of my world to .technic\modpacks\tekkitmain\saves that had a larger filesize than my backups (about 40,000kb) I also tried moving this world and loading it up but while it looked more intact and complete than my backups it was still missing vast sections of the world and had strange seed overwrites. Is it possible that it saved different parts of my world to different folders for some reason? If anyone has any idea what's going on here or how to load my backed up worlds I would greatly appreciate it as I have spent alot of time on my world and currently have no way of getting the entirety of it working. If anyone is wondering i am using the latest version of Tekkit Classic but the original world was probably made a couple versions back.
  2. This should work with any server, pretty much. Or anything, really. I needed to do some simple backups for my server because stuff happens. I found a nifty program called HoboCopy online. It's not hard to find; just google it. I used Hobocopy because xcopy and robocopy doesn't like files that are locked or in use, and they would be skipped. This method seems pretty reliable in that it will copy everything, regardless of it's lock status. It is also an incremental backup, because it uses a base zip file to store the snapshot and then each backup after that just includes the differences from the last backup. Here we create the Base zip and the statefile for Hobocopy. (Statefile is where Hobocopy stores what has already been copied and when, so it knows what to copy next time.) @echo off REM ::BaseBackup.bat REM ::Creates a base image backup for use in Hourly.bat REM Create base statefile title Base backup. cd "c:UsersDragoonDesktop" echo Creating base image now.. I'm using some external storage for this backup to be safe. Next you start the Hourly backup: (Edit: added rmdir for Incremental directory. It effectively unzips 1-9 incrementals into a folder on your desktop. I know there are some things I can change or add to make it better, and if anyone wants to add to it, please do! Edited again. Added in some new stuff to the hourly backup; now it is pretty much automated.
  3. Playing last night my world crashed after placing a red lined item case from bibliocraft onto a furniture mod table. When I logged back into my account and clicked single player the world was gone. I have a backup saved to my desktop and when I go into the saves folder in attack of the bteam it says my world is still there. I added my backup to the saves folder anyway and then reopened the client but no worlds are showing up. i have tried redownloading the entire technic client and i have reset the bteam pack itself. my question is how do i properly add a world back to my "saves" folder. I'm on a mac. Thanks.
