  1. Guide to install and run the Technic Launcher in Linux Mint 17/Ubuntu 14: Q: Why is this guide necessary? A: Because I've had difficulty finding a guide online that actually worked. And I want to share my solution with the community. Tip: Copy the commands one at the time, and middle click/mousewheel click in Terminal to paste. Step 1: Uninstall Java, to make sure you get the correct Java version installed. Run the following in Terminal: sudo apt-get-purge openjdk* Step 2: Install Oracle Java 7. Run the following commands in Terminal: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer Step 3: Download Technic Launcher. From http://technicpack.net/download click on the 'Linux' button, and download the .jar file. Step 4: Move the .jar file to where you want the Launcher to be. I'd recommend Desktop. Don't worry. You'll get to pick where to install the Launcher later. Step 5: Allow the .jar file to run as a program. Right click the .jar file > Properties > Permissions Make sure the box is ticked next to 'Allow executing file as program' Don't close the properties window. Step 6: Make the .jar file run in Java. If you've closed the properties window, see Step 5. Go to Properties > Open With Scroll down the list, until you find 'Oracle Java 7 Runtime' Click on 'Oracle Java 7 Runtime' and set as default. You can now close the Properties window. Step 7: Install the Launcher. It should be as simple as a doubleclick on the .jar file. Just follow the instructions. When the Launcher loads, close it again. Now you should be good to go. Step 8 (Optional): Rename and choose a new icon for the Launcher. Right-click the .jar file > Properties > Basic To rename the file, just edit the text. To choose a new icon, click on the icon to the left. If you don't already have a path to your icon of choice, open 'Home' and navigate to the folder containing the image. Then copy the path. Now follow Step 8. Paste the path as location, and choose your new icon and click Open. Now you should have a working Launcher, with custom icon and name. Enjoy.
  2. I'm trying to run the Technic Launcher on mint linux 18.2. I can see the launcher. I just can't adjust the launcher window to access any mod packs.
  3. Technic Launcher crashes while trying to install, when trying to reinstall (without deleting .technic) it immediately crashes. 4. With the next upgrade in Minecraft and Minecraft mods progressing into 1.7.2, more and more mods are dropping support for Java 6.   Before upgrading Java make sure your computer supports it by checking here: http://java.com/en/download/help/sysreq.xml   Unlike Windows and Mac, major Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora or Red Hat Enterprise Linux offer OpenJDK as their default Java SE implementation.   32-bit vs 64-bit and what does it mean?   Long story short, you cannot run a computer with more memory than 4GB if you use 32-bit.   Technic recommends using 64-bit versions of Java (if supported). This allows more memory for Minecraft to use.    Questions or how to check your system can be found here:   Windows users: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/32-bit-and-64-bit-windows   Mac users: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3696    Linux users: http://stackoverflow.com/a/246014   If you are needing to upgrade your Java install, grab a copy from here http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and follow these guides:   Windows Users:   Check what version of Java your running by going here: http://java.com/en/download/uninstallapplet.jsp   Or checking your installed programs by going to: Control Panel -> Programs and Features   and following this guide: http://java.com/en/download/help/windows_offline_download.xml   Mac Users:   You have special requirements for installing/uninstalling Java on your computers   Please read CLOSELY here: http://java.com/en/download/faq/java_mac.xml   If you cannot uninstall Java 6, install Java 7 and then follow thses steps:   Next start the Java Preferences app from /Applications/Utilities Drag Java 7 to the top of the list like in the screenshot. This will make locally run Java applications use Java 7 instead of Java 6. You can uncheck the Java 6 options if you do not want them to be allowed to run. This section is for the Java runtime for local applications, and has nothing to do with the web plugin.     Linux Users:   Ubuntu and Fedora users: http://openjdk.java.net/install/   Red Hat, SUSE, Oracle, Oracle Enterprise, SLES users: http://java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml After you have installed Java 7, check to make sure it is installed here: http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp   Hope this helps clear things up!   EDIT: Add Mac instructions.
  5. Not sure if anyone else has this problem or knows how to resolve this issue but I seem to have an odd problem with modpacks on Linux Mint 17.3 Im running an Intel Core i7 8GB RAM and an nVidia Geforce 840M graphics card. I have installed proper java 8 instead of OpenJDK that ships with mint and I also had this problem on Java 7 but basically whenever i launch a pack the launcher closes and about 3-5 mins later Minecraft actually starts up. Once it starts it loads fast, it plays full speed no problem but that initial launch is so slow! Any ideas? My GoogleFu has been weak on this topic and i can't find anything about it!

  9. Hey Hexxit 2.0.1c has Problems on Linux. (I think on Windows are no Bugs) The Mods OffLawn and RopesPlus uses the same IDs. I fixed it this way: 1. Open your Modpack/hexxit/config folder. 2. Open "offLawn.cfg" with gedit oder Notepad or something. 3. Change the "Blocks" part of the file. The following works fine: block { I:beanstalk=3000 I:fakeBrownMushroom=3001 I:fakeRedFlower=3002 I:fakeRedMushroom=3003 I:fakeReed=3004 I:fakeSapling=3005 I:fakeTallGrass=3006 I:fakeYellowFlower=3007 I:lawn=3008 I:sunflower=3009 }4. Save "offLawn.cfg" 5. Delete "OffLawn.cfg" 6. Copy "offLawn.cfg" 2 times and name them "OffLawn.cfg" and "offlawn.cfg". To the Developer: There is a differents between "OffLawn.cfg" and "offlawn.cfg". Maybe you CAN do it like every other Developer and DON'T USE THE SHIFT BOTTEN! Linux works perfect. Hexxit not. Have fun My English isn't the best sorry
  10. Ran into a little bit of an issue after installing the launcher to my CrunchBook for the first time just now; the launcher itself works fine and is fully functional, however its resolution is too large for my screen so I can't see all of the launcher window. There's no setting to change the launcher resolution in the settings, so I was wondering if there was a manual fix, such as launching it using a --resolution command or some such equivalent? I'm using it on a netbook so the resolution is quite small (1024x600). I can move the window around using alt+click with no issues, it's simply a minor inconvenience that I would like to avoid every time I launch it. Thanks for any help! 11. There was an issue about this on the old bugtracker but it's gone now... GNOME3 bugtracker bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=741133 (It looks like the LibGDX guys found a workaround for it, so there's that. I'll look at what they did and let you know. EDIT: here: https://github.com/libgdx/libgdx/issues/2475) (Attached is the screenshot that was on the old bugtracker... It's quite outdated.)
  12. Hello, First, I'm a German Guy and I'm sorry if I make mistakes. I "replaced" my OS (Operated System) because my Pc got slow (I'm now using Ubuntu) , I saved my .technic Folder because I wanted to keep my Minecraft modpacks . But I got 2 problems: 1.I can't change the folder of my modpacks (my technic launcher just don't want to use another directory than C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\.technic) - a problem because the Minecraft Launcher from Mojang uses another location on Linux and I just want organization . 2.And now the real problem: I cant import my modpacks ! I replaced the cache and the modpacks folder (because of the first problem) but if I want to start a modpack, the launcher just closes (you can see in the videos I made) Why is there no modpack importing function or something? Thanks for Support Videos:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3kyX4Qozf8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNHwlT0_tnU

If i have durped please tell me. as the last time i used linux was all the way back in suse pro 9.1.
  18. First of all - I take back what I said about Windows being better then Linux, Linux is far better then windows in every way i've currently noticed ^.^ CentOS is a fantastic OS to use with minecraft servers thanks to its low resource usage. For me it's one of the fastest OSs I have ever used. CentOS stands for Community Enterprise Operating System (C.ent.OS) Sometimes however, around 30-50 players, I was experiencing short bursts of lag that took my server down to about 19.66666/19.696968 TPS etc. At one point even down to 18.3, Don't get me wrong, but im a complete performance hog and I hate even the slightest tinge of lag, for me my server has to sit on 20.0 TPS or I go crazy and start eating my fingers off on my keyboard looking for more ways to optimize CentOS to reduce lag even further. I know, from speaking to plowmanplow, that to gain performance in one area, you have to lose performance in another, which is true. Also, from the saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it" comes to mind, but lets say i've ruined multiple OSs on my dedi and had to reinstall the OSs multiple times in order for me to get things working. Infact just now I almost screwed over grub in my CentOS, but managed to fix it with a rescue system. First of all, I reccomend giving your server more permgen space using the flags -XX:PermSize=XXXM -XX:MaxPermSize=XXXM (example: -XX:PermSize=128M) Deatrix runs off 1GB of permsize, but thats to reduce the GC spikes that come from the garbage collector itself. Now, To the part of disabling intel_idle on your processor, do the follow: To tell if intel_idle driver is enabled, telnet/SSH into your CentOS server and run the following command: cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuidle/current_driver If intel_idle is enabled, you will see Intel_idle show up on the line directly underneath the command you just entered. Now: If your grub.conf is located in /boot/grub/grub.conf (It was for me) then run the following command: nano /boot/grub/grub.conf Now, you should see something similar to this : DO NOT CONTINUE PAST THIS STAGE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, MISCONFIGURING THE GRUB.CONF CAN LEAD TO YOUR SYSTEM BEING RENDERED UN-USABLE. (This can be easily fixed on a machine your holding, but for a remote server it means a complete OS reinstall) Now. After "ro" leave a space and enter the following: intel_idle.max_cstate=0 processor.max_cstate=0 idle=poll now, save and exit the grub.conf. Restart your dedicated server or machine to see if this has worked, if you have done it right, then you should see the following: If you have not done it right, and intel_idle is still there, please refer to this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12111954/context-switches-much-slower-in-new-linux-kernels If your system is not booting, you may have to reinstall your OS. TERMS I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE TO SYSTEMS, INCORRECT CONFIGURATIONS OR ANY MISLEADING (There shouldnt be, but even if there is) CONTENT. WHAT YOU DO WITH THIS IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY. Background. Intel_idle is a driver which forces your processor into sleep/idle mode causing major performance issues, After doing this to my server, it reduced lag 10 fold. Another thing which can help you increase performance is the use of -XX:+UseNUMA, 32bit systems should see a 30% performance increase in there systems, while 64x will see a 40% performance increase. Source(s): http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12111954/context-switches-much-slower-in-new-linux-kernels http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/vm/performance-enhancements-7.html plowmanplow
  19. Hi there I'm playing attack of the b-team on ubuntu, but I'm not able to open the morph selector. I think it's because I have a German keyboard where the key to open the selector would be the ß-key (two left of the backspace), but minecraft does not recognize this key. Also in vanilla minecraft I'm not able to bind a function to this key, because it just says NONE when I press it. I also can not bind the selector to any other key. For example when I play aotb-t in windows and I go to options -> controls -> morph and set it to any other key, it still opens when I press "ß". Has someone an idea of how to fix this?
  20. I am having issues installing the TechnicLauncher on Fedora linux. I have install java, and went through a bunch of troubleshooting solutions. I cannot seem to make it run. When I choose what program to start it with, I do not get the java program to run it. Im sure I am being extremely derpy about this. Does anyone know ?
  21. Java 7 is now required to run AOTBT with the latest update. On debian/ubuntu/mint etc linux, Openjdk6 seems to be the most popular Java implementation. If you're using it, here's how to upgrade: First, uninstall Openjdk6. Open a terminal, and run this command $ sudo apt-get remove openjdk-6-jre (note - the $ character isn't typed in this and the following commands, only type what's to the right of it) This command may automatically install Openjdk7, but if it doesn't, run the following command $ sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre Now try running the Technic launcher with Openjdk7 (right click, open with OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime) In my experience, the launcher wouldn't run with only Openjdk7 installed. If this happens to you, you could try installing Oracle's proprietary Java implementation, with the following commands (and remember, the $ characters aren't typed, only what's to the right) $ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:webupd8team/java $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer Wait for the installation to complete, and then try running the launcher with Oracle Java 7 Runtime. I hope this helps, and please comment if you need further help.
  22. Hello there! Today I created a small and lightweight program, which helps server administrators distinguish between different log levels. The program currently highlights INFO-WARNING making it easy to see errors and bugs! This program is going to be a part of my BukkitUI - A program which allows users to easily manage Minecraft Bukkit server. The program is open source and licensed under the GPL version 3.0. ========== Links ========== WebLaunch: http://team-m4gkbeatz.eu/downloads/BukkitLogViewer/launch.html Compressed ZIP archive: http://team-m4gkbeatz.eu/downloads/BukkitLogViewer/BukkitLogViewer.jar.zip Git: http://github.com/Beatsleigher ========== Screenshots ========== http://team-m4gkbeatz.eu/downloads/BukkitLogviewer/BukkitLogViewer.png http://team-m4gkbeatz.eu/downloads/BukkitLogviewer/BukkitLogViewer1.png Should you have any feedback or feature requests, please let me know!
