I just got Rocket Boots crafted onto my Modular Power Suit in my SP Survival... i've tried Key Binding them in the MPS Keybinding Interface to turn the Rocket Boots on & off... but I can't figure out how to fly around on them, how do I get off the ground & stay off it with these things? Gonna need to know how to do this with the MPS Jetpack I wanna add on to the Suit in the future too.

Many thanks for your time.

P.S. Tekkit keeps giving messages when I enter it that look like Patch Notes from time to time... is it still under active development even though Tekkit 2 is on the way? (Seems easierlazier to ask this here even if it's not really on topic rather then make a 2nd Thread & make the Forum messier.)

Nothing is under active development there. The notes are from mods that want you to update, but you usually cannot do that within 1.6.4.

I believe that the Powersuit has upgrades that allow for more controlled flight, but not sure how the Rocket Boots play into it. MPS has been dead for so long that most people have moved to other personal gear solutions.

Strange. So "Fix: Ender Lilys Maturing on World Reload" or something like that means nothing...? So hard to understand everything about Minecraft Modding.

I got the Upgrade for the controlled flight, I just can't seem to figure out how to do the actual flying itself with them. The Rocket Boots are starting to look like the Dimensional Tear Generator, seems like ya put it on the suit but there's no way in hell to actually activate it & actually USE them... :(

There's no way in hell I can give up the Powersuit, it's too awesome... especially when I recently built the Railgun & am now madly in love with it, especially for Enderman Hunting. (Still need to get into the EE3 stuff too... been spending the Diamonds on Suit Upgrades, but also been going into the Nether occasionally & those Gold Sword Drops might eventually suffice too.)

Guess if I get desperate I can go to the other Jetpack option... but it's gonna look inferior compared to the MPS... :/

You may have to go into the key mapping and assign a key to activate the boots / jetpack.

Weight of the suit is a factor too. Too heavy and you won't get off the ground.

And carry a charged energy cell with you. The suit can draw off it for juice.

Simply Jetpacks are really nice too. The upper tier ones are quite speedy.

I second the recommendation for Simply Jetpacks. Unfortunately, the ancient version included in 1.2.9e does not have armoured ones yet. However, a purely singleplayer game could be upgraded to do that. Just get 0.3.1.1 (the last version that is compatible with Minecraft 1.6.4) and drop it into the mods directory - removing the old version, of course.

As for MPS, I think you need to actually "put some points" into this stuff in the tinkering interface. There are sliders that need raising, or it won't work. Also weight, as AetherPirate suggested.

I already jacked up the Rocket Boots to max power & key bound it & tried turning it on... but I forgot to think about weight. I think all my MPS pieces weigh over 30 of whatever measurement the game uses, forget off the top of my head. I'll see if I can get the MPS Jetpack built & see if I can get it to work then, hopefully the Rocket Boots & Jetpack can work together & synergize.

If not, might have to give Simply Jetpacks a try... though it'll be annoying switching between a Jetpack & my MPS Suit.

Also gotten started on EE3 use, & managed to promptly derp up & found out Gold Swords don't suffice, though the Gold Armor Pieces do. 2 Minium Dusts down, 6 to go. Shoulda got started on it long ago then I coulda had plenty of Diamonds & Resonant Ender to Upgrade my MPS Suit with. Dang Tekkit is so big & hard to explore.

Edit: Typo Fixes. Why doesn't Firefox's Spell Checker work on these Forums? :/

If you've got batteries installed on your suit, I'd recommend gutting them completely and just carrying around an energy cell in your inventory as suggested earlier in the thread. Those batteries add a lot of unnecessary weight, especially when upgraded.

But then what will keep me weighted down against my own Rail Gun shots? :)

But if I get the Jetpack built then still can't get off the ground, I may not have a choice...

Edit: Now that I think about it, how strong IS the Energy Draw on 4 active Energy Shields...? I got the Solar Generator & Advanced Solar Generator both Installed along with the Kinetic Generator & the one that gives power from extreme heat for my Nether Jaunts...

I'm not even sure if using Energy Shields as "armour plating" will draw any power. The accepted standard is going with a battery-less suit and keeping a TE Energy Cell (ideally Resonant) somewhere in inventory, which will last you a long time. The Advanced Solar Generator is known to glitch, and fire-kill you instantly when it does. Generally, in-suit power generation is not recommended whatsoever. Just set up a Yellorium Reactor somewhere and have it charge a spare cell, so you can just swap it for your drained cell when you hop by your base.

Oh wow... Just tried looking at all the Batteries & the first 2 tier Batteries weight the same as the Elite Battery, 10kg but a single Elite Battery in my Power Fist gives me all the power I need in one go. I now have a 10kg Power Fist & no longer have any of my Armor Pieces weighing even 20kg now. I run faster & jump higher, but still can't fly with my Rocket Boots on. Still can't figure out if there's some kinda control to fly around that i'm not pressing or something to initiate actual flying around while Rocket Boots are on... on the upside, once I got my MPS Jetpack, those & the Rocket Boots together might give me my flight.

Why can't flying with the Jetpack &/or Rocket Boots operate the same way control-wise as the Creative Mode Flight? Would be more intuitive.

To my surprise i'm also seeming to still have enough weight for my Railgun use. Damn I love that weapon so much. Still eventually gonna craft a Plasma Cannon for the suit & screw around with it... then the Lightning Summoner... :D

The MPS Mod needs to be re-continued. Especially, that Dimensional Tear Generator needs to be gotten working right.

Edit: I just tried testing further... I tried Railgunning myself into the stratosphere with the Jet Boots on & again with them off, then again onn, then again off. I'm noticing a major difference in fall speed between on & off. The Boots are making a difference, the Jetpack then having them both turn on & off with the same Hotkey (That BETTER be possible...) oughta give me my Flight! :D

Also just got a Resonant Energy Cell crafted & am now charging it. It'll rock for it to be able to power my Quarry & Pump in the future instead of the damn annoying hooking up 2 Steam Dynamos, 2 Aqueous Accumulators, a few Water Sources, & some Redstone Energy Conduits to the Quarry everytime, & one Steam Dynamo & 1 Aqueous Accumulator for the Pump. Can't wait till I can craft a second one I can dedicate to suit power.

If you followed bochen's news thread, you would have seen this a few days back. Seems like MPS might return. Of course only on 1.7, and thus not in current Tekkit.

And iirc, MPS logic says that flight is controlled mostly by the jetpack upgrade, and rocket boots only buff your flight a bit. The boots themselves are for step-up, high jump, running and reducing fall damage. That is all from memory, so it may be inaccurate. I've stopped using MPS many months ago.

Many thanks for the News Link. I didn't know that existed before.

Workin on getting the Jetpack built, runnin into Shiny Metal Dust shortages atm & noticing that Nether Platinum Ore in the Nether seems to be awfully hard to find in addition to Shiny Metal Dust not showing up as a byproduct of Pulverizing Ferrous Ore a fat lot. On the bright side, the Rail Gun has made Endermen Hunting SO much easier, especially useful since I still got 6 Minium Dust left to go to be able to craft my first Minium Stone to start off my EE3 power. Gettin about ready to try to bother Villagers for Emeralds instead & use those, I can Farm up a ton of Wheat & have easy access to Wool so might be less bother. Heck, might even make a big Player Made Village for the buggers then transfer them all to it & have them all in one spot with state of the art lighting & security. :P (Was planning to do this eventually but starting to get tempting to do it sooner rather then later.)

You can farm Emeralds with a Quarry, but you need to manually locate an Extreme Hills Biome and set it up there, because Emeralds are only generated under those. Village trading works as well, of course, but I suggest using a Trading Station to make it less tedious. Gathering the guys in one spot also makes sense, so don't forget that you can

  • catch them by shift-right-clicking with a Reusable Safari Net and
  • resuce zombified villagers with a De-Zombification Syringe (takes a moment until they turn back).

Shiny Metal can be reliably generated:

  • quarry the Nether for Nether Redstone Ore
  • put it into a Redstone Furnace (NOT in a Pulverizer)
  • alternatively you can just silk-touch regular Redstone Ore, the point is getting the ore itself and not the dusts
  • when you pulverize this ore, you will eventually get some Cinnabar
  • put Ferrous Ore in the Induction Smelter with Cinnabar to get one guaranteed Shiny Ingot from each ore

It's a little work, but you can lift your limitations with that chain. That and EE3 should basically auto-generate MPS parts for you, once you advanced far enough.

If you need some pointers about the Quarry, I wrote down what I learned >here.

I can confirm that ya can also catch Villagers with the Magic Lasso, just gotta Shift-Right Click them instead of just Right Clicking them. Used this before to fish the stupid blokes outta Sewage/Sludge or the like they stupidly stroll right into before they get their stupid butt killed. (Doesn't help when the game spawns the Sewage Pit right under the Village Church, half wrecking the Church in the process too, I had to pump that Sewage out to get rid of it cause the Villagers were in danger of getting killed by the Sewage every time the poor dudes just wanted to nip into their Church & pray.)

I had wondered if Cinnabar had any use, that sounds like an awesome trick for Shiny Metal! Many thanks for that! Can stroll right into my Nether Portal & grab some of that Nether Redstone to do that next play! ^_^

I haven't yet found any Extreme Hills thus far, but I sure have a LOT of Desert & Ice Land around me. XD (Set for Induction Smelter Sand & ALL the Glass I could ever want forever. :P )

Edit: Oh, now that I think about it, Quarrying the Nether was one of the big reasons I was working towards my Jetpack. Without flight, trying to Quarry the Nether will be too hard a thing to attempt. Fortunately don't need Flight to get Nether Redstone.

I am asking on behalf of my friend with autism.
So we downloaded the Minecraft Launcher from the official website, installed and ran. It experienced issues download/installing the latest version of Minecraft.
Luckily, from my computer, I backed up the need Minecraft files into a .zip file and shared that with him. Vanilla Minecraft works and runs.
From there, went on Technic Launcher. Vanilla Minecraft won't download and install. Neither will my modpack.
His Technic Launcher has an issue actually downloading and installing modpacks. Even the official ones.
      ---
We have turned firewall off. We have uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft Launcher. We have deleted Minecraft and Technic files from %appdata%, as well as using CCleaner to remove any extras. We have uninstalled 64-bit Java and redownloaded and reinstalled 64-bit Java. ---
What could be a possible fix for this issue?
Has anyone else experienced such an issue?
