Voltz +Bukkit???

A really REALLY silly question,

Is there a future in which the voltz server runs on bukkit, or similar plugin mod, projected?

I've only had a little dabble with Voltz, but i've already Decided the future of my Tekkit Server is to be Voltz,

The only downside to the Voltz Server as-is is all the devestating Explosives and no way to limit them, which leaves me with a Whitelisted server to avoid Greifing/Lagg Based Denial,

I'd Really like some option of Adding plugins, if not Bukkit, then perhaps somebody is working on an alternative?

Cheers,

The ForgeBukkit fork is dead, so no more Bukkit plugins for Forge setups. I imagine the reliance on the ForgeBukkit fork (and old RedPower2 prerelease) is probably what kept Tekkit in perpetual Minecraft 1.2.5 stagnation, and why it appears moving forward that Tekkit may cease to be supported.

Which is to say it's exceedingly unlikely Bukkit will couple with Forge again, as no one is working on it, and that's alright, because Forge mods can handle server-side stuff as well. You can ride out the drought, or visit the Simple Server Mods section of the MinecraftForge forums and try your luck with the open source ForgeEssentials.

  • 2 weeks later...

Personally after testing ForgeEssentials I felt like it didn't really provide much support as most of its wiki was blank, or hadn't been written in the important sections like permissions and such, Truthfully i had thought about doing going back to vanilla just for Bukkit support, at this point I believe ForgeEssentials needs more programmers and user support like the Bukkit project currently has to become useful. I have a few liscenses to McMyAdmin and am currently trying to tie Voltz into it and if that's successful maybe try getting latest Bukkit working on it. However i know nothing about programming, and i am not even sure what I'm doing to be honest, but if i somehow am able to pull it off rest assure i will post a video tutorial on how i did it. Keep mining the great mine guys and gals, :)

Thank you for this Information, I will be working on a video tutorial now and will post it after a few days of testing, but so far this looks very promising for replacing the old ForgeBukkit with this nifty new BukkitForge! hehehe,, If this all works well i am definitely donating to BukkitForge development.

I'm so happy, i have successfully after 17hrs got voltz integrated into mcmyadmin, got BukkitForge integrated into that with you essentials port, plus through groupmanager i can simply control groups and permission nodes via mcmyadmins web gui which i am completely reliant on for perms,,, i couldn't get the port of permissionsEX to work with it though thus falling back to groupmanager via trial and error. After all that i then focused on my players demands for tekkit to be merged with voltz which after 4hrs i was able to do but it was sloppy copys not using the new custom zip option. However i am confident now that i can adapt the clients with custom mod zip. I am in the works now of making a vidoe i will post on youtube explaining to new people or the unknowledgeable how to do this. I did it all in linux, but if your serious about dedicated serving that shouldn't be a problem. I will post link to video when its complete. Thanks to the supporters of BukkitForge, you now have my support :)

So i put together scraps of computer to do a youtube video everything was working great about 75% done 45mins in and the computer locked up and restarted,,, it only had 2 gigs of ram while running both client and server i realize that was stupid but i was trying to work with what i had, video lost, new equipment will be here either by weekend or after this weekend, so i will be making the video from scratch again, and hopefully people won't dog me too much when its finished as it will be my first video publish to the net :) I'm excited to show you all how to do this, so it might be 6 days but you have all waited this long and with the recent upset of 1.0.8 volts i will be using 1.0.7 in my tutorial of server setup and merging with tekkit-lite and integration of BukkitForge,,, I have generously donated to this Project which has potential and promise. When i post the Video it will be in its own forum topic :) but for now waiting on parts shipment to do this wasn't cheap but it will allow me to enlighten a lot of Admins i hope. bye for now
