Hey Luke,

How do I fix, " Error unzipping a file for the following pack"

Thanks Man

Sorry for the large delay, I have been away.

Normally this means that you messed up the .zip. Make sure you called it modpack.jar and set the compression method to .zip. Refer to the second post in this thread for direction on setting it up properly.

This should replace the main technic modpack guide

lawl

Q: Ma pack NO wOrk! WAT IS THIS DARK MAJIC?

(I have actually been asked that)

A: The dark wizard of Gandalf has decided to infest you computer with evil ducks. Please contact the Wonderful Wizard of Oz and have him cast a spell that will call down bolts of lightning to strike your computer, removing the ducks.

this should replace the main technic guide so people can find it through google easier

Thats not the right report. The FML report is far more informative on what mods conflicted, and if you suspect more than two mods are conflicting you should install and test the pack one mod addition at a time to avoid the issue. It is very difficult to find the issues when more than 2 mods are conflicting.

I see I am sorry I got it wrong where do I get the correct report?

I am constantly reminding folks of this when they ask for help so I figured it might be good to remind new pack makers. The "modpack.jar" (especially when making 1.6.4 packs) is simply the Forge universal download renamed to "modpack.jar". There is no need to extract it and re-make it. Just rename the thing and put it in your "bin" folder.

This is exactly what I'm doing. I go to http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/index.php/topic,14059.0.html and DL the universal .jar. I rename it modpack.jar, and stick it in the bin folder. Zip everything up, upload, link to the upload in the Technic site, DL in the launcher and.... get vanilla 1.6.4 Minecraft. ARGH.

@darkthought: For future reference, questions/help on specific modpacks should probably be started in Platform Pagoda.

  • Your pack archive has everything in a subfolder. All the primary folders (bin, config, mods, etc.) need to be in the top level of the archive.
  • Your modpack.jar is named "modpack.jar.jar". It must be named "modpack.jar".
  • You have an old version of Forge (B#953) as your modpack.jar. Update to the latest version (B#965).
  • You have NEI but none of the addons/plugins. You probably want those.
  • You have MMMPS but not MMMPS Addons. You probably want that.
  • Your MMMPS recipes are in the mods folder. Those belong in config/machinemuse/recipes.

Other than that it looks great. Kudos for including config files!

Roger, and thanks for the help. I'll fix this tonight.
