Whenever I try to generate a new, or load an old singleplayer world, it gets stuck at "Building Terrain", I have left it run for a half hour, and it never manages to load the world.

When I try to connect to a multiplayer server, it connects fine, however it has TREMENDOUS lag. It also tends to crash randomly with no error, straight to the desktop.

Things I have tried:

-minimizing all in-game options (render distance, smooth lighting, etc.)
-allocating more RAM (incrementally, 5GB was the stopping point)
-reinstalling tekkit with a clean launcher and .technic folders
-reinstalling java
-relocating and arranging tekkit files to be launched with the vanilla MC launcher (results in "a java exception has occurred" error when I attempt to launch).

I do have a legitimate copy of minecraft (two actually).

This does not occur with tekkit classic, voltz, hexxit, hack/mine, or vanilla minecraft. It DOES however also occur with the yogscast Moonquest pack.

First of all, thanks for doing some basic troubleshooting beforehand.  You would be surprised at how many people experience minor issues and then immediately run to the tracker with a level 5 problem of "halp i get lag plz fix"

Whenever I try to generate a new, or load an old singleplayer world, it gets stuck at "Building Terrain", I have left it run for a half hour, and it never manages to load the world.

Have you tried watching the console (openable by click the gear in the top left of the launcher, and clicking "show console") output during this?  The progress bar is no longer visible, which was pretty much due to lazyness, but the console still outputs world generation percentages.

-allocating more RAM (5GB)

5 GB is waaaaaaaaay too much.  This may be the source of the problem.  2 GB is pretty much the max you should ever need, java is bad with large allocation and will actually run worse if you assign anymore than 2.

Try using something like http://www.pastebin.com rather than mediafire.  It tends to be better for log files.

With regards to the RAM, I didn't just motor it straight up to 5GB, that is simply the point at which I stopped. I tried incrementally increasing it from .5GB up to 5GB, with no noticeable effect either detrimental OR beneficial to the issues I have been having.

With regards to pastebin, I remembered it, just not the name of the website, since I haven't had an issue such as this in a long time, aside from that while typing this I just got a 413 error for it being too large.

With regards to the console, I have not tried this, and will edit it in after a few minutes to do so:

At first  glance this does appear to be a memory problem, however as stated above and in the OP, I have already tried allocating more RAM.

There are also a number of warnings before reaching the title screen (at the mojang splash screen), the entire pre-world loading console log is here:

I also have this issue, however, I should add that in muliplayer, when you press F3, where it shows the ram you can see it rise from some 71% all the way to around 90% in either 10-15 seconds or 3-4 seconds, (depending how much you have played), cause a short (3/4 seconds) FPS spike, and return to 71%, and rise again, repeat and repeat.

Maybe this is also for you, but the total allocated RAM shown in F3 stays at a certain number (For me it's 455 mb) no matter what I set it to in the launcher. (E.G. 1GB, 2GB)

Sorry if this all seems a bit random, but I've exerted all possible problems including console, and this is my only lead.

If this is happening to you, I have an update on the situation, I have fixed it and the reason behind it is that in System Properties, (assuming a Windows computer here), go to Advanced Settings, Environment Variables, and if there is something limiting Minecraft, delete it, and RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.

If this isn't your problem, sorry man, good luck.

I actually just came back after having given up for 3 months (yay short term attention span...) to post that very thing here.

in my case the variable is limiting java itself however, NOT minecraft:

Variable: _JAVA_OPTIONS Value: -Xmx512M

it seems this is limiting java to using 512mb REGARDLESS of what it is set to in the launcher.

This poses a new problem for me, however, in that this variable can't be deleted. the "new" "edit" and "delete" buttons are all grayed out. Is there any other way to do this?

Edit: nevermind. When i opened environment settings by using the windows 8 search, that happened. However when I opened it through control panel the "proper" way instead, it allowed me to delete it.

More on if it ACTUALLY worked soon...

I'm pretty sure this will be an easy fix. FML starts working, then it finishes. Screen turns white, then red, then black. After that, it crashes. Here is the info...

I was wondering if it was possible for me to play a technic modpack with multiplayer when I have the same account logged in on 2 different computers?I only bought the game once and don't want to buy the game again just so my little brother can play minecraft. He is basically 9 years old and no way can he buy the game (lol), I would buy it but like i said I don't want to waste money just to access multiplayer. I do have proof that I own a legit copy of minecraft java edition and am not using a pirate/cracked version of it (just in case no one believes i own the game)

I'd appreciate any help or just a simple answer saying this is possible and how or that this is not possible and why.
Another note is that when I tried doing a direct connect with my IP and the server's port it said "That name is already taken"

Hello, so i have been building on my tekkit classic map and while i was building, minecraft crashed with "Saving Chunks" screen. When i went to rejoin, it said "Simulating the world for a bit.." and after that "Saving chunks" and white screen.

So I'm not really sure what even happened all I know is that I tired to run Tekxit 3 LE Official. When it didn't run a tested multiple other packs including Attack of the B-Team, Blightfall, Tekkit, ect. None have been able to even open. The launcher flickers then almost resets like it never was launching in the first place. I tried reinstalling the pack and launcher, even a complete check on my PC. Specs have nothing to do with it I have 12gb of RAM also nothing should be conflicting with the program. I'm honestly at a loss for words as this is nothing like I've ever seen. I've tried just about everything reinstalling Java was something I tested but to no avail. I tried researching my problems hoping someone had the same issues but I only find outdated sources and after updates I dont trust their solutions. It may also be well to inform everyone that the modpack did initially work but i tired downloading another modpack which was RLCraft but that didnt open and now im here(I now only have Tekxit installed and still wont run).

Edit: Almost forgot crashes when "installing minecraft assets"

My friends and I made a custom modpack with all our favorite mods in 1.12.2. I was having some issues with the modpack.jar that made it run vanilla and I fixed it, but now the modpack doesn't even show a java client or loading screen before crashing. I posted a day or two ago on reddit and was told to delete some iffy modpacks, but that only makes it run vanilla again. Any ideas why this is happening?
