How did you get it to work? It still say update failed for me.

yea, the only ones working are tekkit and technic maybe because tekkit and technic are hosted by technicpack while the other modpacks haven't been updated because there from other sources

You can't download any of the modpacks if you don't already have them. I think it's because the launcher doesn't have a patch for 1.4.4, yet it downloads the 1.4.4 minecraft.jar from minecraft.net still. All you can do is wait for the devs :(
