I will start probating if this grammar derail continues.
All I can say is LOL
-
but wait i thought your a computer expert?
you should know if it works or not. LOL
Expert, yes it does work on windows 7 64 bit or if you silly enough to have 32bit, any dos program should work if you try hard enough via dosbox i have not seen a game that does not work in dosbox, but if you still have a problem running dos programs you can always use vmware workstation and run ubcd, or hirens boot disk.
But then again dell is bundled with the gimped version of windows 7 so it probbley is 32bit home lol
Dont forget to type in your sound settings if you done a clean boot.
SET SOUND16=C:\TEMP;
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H3 P330 T6
to everyone else this is a good site to for ye old dos games http://www.abandonia.com/en/game/all/Abandonware
for the person who asked about legalities, depends some will state that they have been abandonent or there copyright has expired, or they have released them to public domain if that is the case then they are free.
No one can tell you every program that is compatible especially if they have never used the programme. No my computer is windows 64bit so that just shows you don't know dell as they do support 64bit and if i am not mistaken all of there computer are 64bit
biggest thing i not a forum geek i reply when i can and i write when someone needed help, or someone like Fizzy is giving wrong info like he has and claiming to be an I.T expert when he just an administrator at best, i dont care about grammer, and releastically nether should anyone as long as the point is made seriously this a forum not a english class.
Thanks for understanding that grammar is not everything, but i must point out i never in any of my posts put expert and to be honest no one is an expert in every side of IT mine is mainly server side.

Let me correct that for you: "No, I do not, haha. Do you? Because if you do, I doubt you always shout."
And the fact that you did not catch that extremely well known popular culture reference saddens me greatly.
Just looked it up I have not watched that in a long time.

ENGLISH, MOTHERFUCKER. DO YOU SPEAK IT?
nope lol, do you coz i am sure it is not all in caps
-
probably not. You can always get it on steam. I'm a member of the memories project though. You won't find a lot of the old DOS games anywhere but in that collection. A large portion of which were from my old floppies. and by floppy I mean 5.25"
the almost unbreakable floppy i have frogger and simant on them :)
-
It wasn't directed at anyone specific. Also, I think 9yo me would have had a hard time with xcom
ye I must say x-com was not an easy game when I was younger.
http://theboombot.com/dos/DOS Collection A to D (Memories Project) Part 1 of 4/here you go. just search for "commander keen" there's some shareware and the full series in there.
I will get from steam saves me messing about with dosbox. :)
-
Steam has the entire series (5 games) for $4.99 (don't know how much in £), and that will probably take...we'll just say quite a few hours to play through.
sorry that £2.99 was for the complete pack thought it was for one, I will try it out this weekend
Oh my god, it's THAT game series! I remember playing it on my granddads old PC some 10 years agoMy first game, finally this 17yo can have some nostalgia
I was more into the x-com series. and i am 25 if that was to me.
-
Minecraft appropriated the Standard Galactic Alphabet from Commander Keen.
If you have not played commander keen you are a soulless beast for which I have no time.
no i have not played it but might try it if it works on windows 7 with dos emu unless it is worth £2.99 from steam

what you think the UK gov would use the best computer hardware for there offices lol no they use the cheapest like any other office, and if you cant tell the difference between a Dell Server wich is not bad but not good, or a Desktop, or cant even tell the difference between a the two I7 or know anything about Cas to RAS latency ErusPrime is right stop pretending to be TECH or I.T Pro, to me your one of those guys in the industry in it for the money.
fair point so if you had to pick a rebuild computer and laptop what would you pick. and you are right with dell servers not to fond of them better off building one as rebuild are way over priced
-
It says "Valkon" in Standard Galactic Alphabet (used by Minecraft's enchantment system and for obfuscated text in Thaumcraft III).
cool like it i never knew it was Galactic Alphabet in minecraft
-
Of course there are no feelings in the internet. It's nothing more than a series of connected computers.
However, that does not mean you get to be emotionless. We can do without the needless hostility, yes?
well put like your avatar what does the text say ?
-
so what if he is, pay some respect to people one day might get your head from under your ass.
-
Are you new to the internet or something? In the internet there are no feelings.
sorry but everyone has feelings people have killed there self because of idiots like you and i pay all my respects to them
-
being dyslexic does not make my any different to you. I recommend dell because I have had good experience with them and you coming on here and taking the piss out of people being dyslexic make you the saddest person here.
-
yeah. Sorry about lecturing you earlier (at least I thought it was you) I should have payed more attention to who I was quoting.
lol that is fine :)
-
Since the most recent computer I bought was made by Acer, I'm going with them.
It's a fairly decent computer, able to handle most things except the more recent stuff.
ye i had a acer but i think i had a crap model as the back light kept blowing my brother just got the Acer V5-571 Silver 15.6" Core i3 2365 4GB 500GB Windows 8 seems good but must say i dont like windows 8
-
Ooh, a secret code to decipher!
Please, even if you are dyslexic, just go over what you wrote and make sure it's readable before you post.
sorry just does my head in. The way people dis others and get a kick out of it.
-
Wow, you have proven once again that you don't know anything about computers. At all.
Please stop trying to prove that you're in IT, as I have a greatly reasonable doubt that you aren't.
Dont know were I proven that i know nothing but all I said in the start of the post was get a dell they are good everyone has there own opinion yes making a computer is the best option but if you Dont know then go for dell as they have good after care that was the question as for you Mooseman9 you came to b***h so what is you brand if you had to buy one

I'm A+ with Network+, CCNA, and Security+. I'm currently in school for electrical and computer engineering. People like you, who have no idea what they're talking about, are the reason I can't find a goddamn job.
and yes. People can build their own laptops. I've done it. A few times. You really should not be helping people with their computers. OR you shouldn't be lying about your certifications on the internet.
lol no lie and if you have mcsa windows server 2012 there is no need for Network+, CCNA, and Security+ not in my job anyway. It is not really possible to build your own laptop unless you have all the parts made to order as all laptop shells are build specifically to the components they us and to make it harder they use there own connections plus now days everything is on-board
-
What does this even mean?
for one i would not pay for the cost of the courses as they cost way to much unless I had a IT job to use them in
-
Lol, sorry, I'm positively sure you don't have any kind of job in IT with the 'dell is good' crap you're saying. Also, having dyslexia doesn't prevent you from typing like a normal human being.
lmao if your not good with punctuation then you cant help it and yes i am a IT technician for year retook my CompTIA A+ last year and just past my mcsa windows server 2012

This hurt to read...
Have you ever heard of the full stop or comma? I read like I'm listening to someone say it, and I almost felt out of breath after reading that huge nonstop paragraph.
lol, sorry was in a hurry. By the way ever herd of people being dyslexic, witch I am
I'm an engineer specializing in nothing, and I can tell you that Dell is overpriced with inferior parts. You can get the same or better warranty ordering the parts and building a PC yourself. Now, if you can't/won't provide your own support (which I can do, so I'd think you'd want to do, being in IT), maybe they'd be a good option, but there you have it. I'd never go with HP, and Dell is a marginally acceptable third choice, depending on your needs.Yes you are right I have got my own home build computer like i said " if you want a specific computer you are better building one" but no techi can build there own laptop can they, only repair that is why i bought the xps nice and powerful just like a desktop.
Took the words right out of my mouth. If you prefer dell you don't belong in IT. By the way Mr. IT, what is your major? Since it obviously isn't English.as i said : lol, sorry was in a hurry. By the way ever herd of people being dyslexic, witch I am
-
If you can afford/have the ability to do that though, why not?
yes you are right but there is not really any point unless you are rendering :)
-
I can tell you as i am in I.T Specializing in hardware Dell or HP are shit, mostly put to gether with low end boards and cheap oem gpu's and sticking a heap of ram into a board that does not have the bandwidth is not going to do anything but slow you down.
Secondly there is 3 i7 well now 2 I7 out there one is 1155 another is 2011 socket whats the differents well quad channels for ram on 2011 sockets, second no tech i know would use a dell so ether your in like the accounting department or your just a programmer or something.
well to prove you wrong i am a I.T Specializing and i have had dell for a very long time there after sales is brill it brakes they send me the parts to fix or send a dell engineer and the government and NHS in the UK use dell and so do Google for there search engine acer charge you for postage of your device even if it is in warranty if you want a specific computer you are better building one if you want a good after sale dell are the best people that say dell are crap is because they have gone for the cheapest computer they sell to be honest as they say get what you pay for all my computers have been over £1000 and my latest computer is the xps and i paid £3000 but was worth it can play crysis 3 at max and bf3 but that is my option
New computer for tekkit!
