Does your laptop have an nVidia Optimus-based dual GPU? If so, you may need to launch it by right-clicking and choosing explicitly which graphics processor to use. I find that vanilla Minecraft will use the nVidia GPU automatically but I'm unable to get the control panel to remember my preference for Technic and when I forget then it runs like a dog with the Intel GPU even with an Ivy Bridge i7 3630QM.
