Sadly no screen caps from the past, but we did test with simple reset clients before mas7er made the post.

A couple of us do have OptiFine installed in our clients but the issue persists without it. We removed all mods that did not come with Hexxit while we were testing the issue.

No texture just TukMC its a UI mod that gives you better server info like the ping of other people on the server. It also makes the toolbar and on screen indicators a little more informative. =)

Upon rereading this thread I realized my stupidity and noticed the bit about a new world. This, we have not tried yet as we were somewhat invested in our current world but tomorrow is another day and I'm sure we will go ahead and give that a shot.
