Hexxit is just great! I usually don't try adventurous modifications so this modpack was almost completely new to me. But it's awesome and very fun!

These might be acceptable solutions.

The Meteor Shield is causing a lot of lag because of the particles it emits. I want to keep the other particles, so I can't simply turn it off with OptiFine. What shall I do?

Update LWJGL (in your Hexxit bin folder). This will solve this problem.
