Last I checked, I only have this problem on my 'Dummy Launcher' I use for testing multiple connection attempts to a server. Said dummy is a crack. The sound issue is because without proper authorization, your launcher can't connect to the Amazon Servers where minecraft now stores it's sound files...so, basically, buy the game and your problem will go away.
