LifeMUD Game server now runs TPPI!

Tired of being spoon-fed items or currency, think that teleportation is over used? Thought so!

Join LifeMUd game server where we are working on a project using TPPI where we are stripping away game ruining mechanics and creating a user generated world. The concept being that the players can take control over regions of land and establish trade routes etc. We have Towny and other plugins make this possible. In time mayors will have the opportunity to have their town elected as a possible start town for new players (At that time new players will spawn in a start selection area). Role-playing players are welcome although this is not a role play server we accommodate for role players.

The Dev/Admin team is formed of a mature group of like-minded, passionate minecrafters.

We are spicing up the server with customized plugins as well as completely LifeMUD exclusive plugins. We also have a great website with voting options for a few extra credits, a dynamic map and instructions for our voice services.

Just updating whats been happening in the last week. We have had a few major updates to mods and the core files to give us even more performance. We have more quests and more tech. We have also added ExtraUtils which makes things a little easier.

LifeMUD is a modded, multi world/dimension server running towny and all the coolest mods. All this has been balanced out to give the best selection of world elements and technology. We have in-game voice, air ships, customizable pets, mountable dragons, quests, VIP status and very imaginative concept designers and builders.

At LifeMUD we have built a small, yet growing, community of players who welcome new players in to our worlds. To be quite frank, LifeMUD is probably the server your will play for the rest of your days.

Much time and effort has been spent on this two year long project to create a minecraft community with the best tools and building options possible without creating a laggy pack. Our server runs on a high-performance, fully hardware dedicated server run by mature professionals. We have anti-greifing tools such as logging and anti-x-ray. The aim of the game for us is to build a server that provides everything you need whilst still making it a challenge to play. With our many dimensions and questing elements, a whole world of possibilities opens up; from quests, clans/towns to full on role-play, anything is possible.

Our worlds are beautifully constructed by our building team and are fluently inserted into the system as a whole to provide you with a rich and ever expanding environment.

Many people have labelled us "the best server out there", to LifeMUD'ers we simply call it Home.

Title: crash on long distance tp

Version: 1_0_3

Description of Problem:

Having an issue with tekkit. Using the latest one available on this site.

All players are getting an NPE crash in a tileEntity function when tp'ed

long distance or across worlds. This happens with anything that is moving the

player from the player.teleport() function it seems.

I dont think its chunk loading issue as I can tp to a player and cause it to happen and

that chunk would be in memory as its occupied.

Is anyone else experiencing this or knows a fix/workaround?, its been happening out of the box.

It was the lack of an IPv6 address for the url which java could not address because IPv6 isn't implemented yet, so of course java threw an exception because there wasn't a try/catch methodology to cope with that happening. So in real terms it was the implementation at fault not java itself, java just revealed the issue by throwing an exception that wasn't handled.

No your router will not do this.

Have you tried logging into http://www.minecraft.net and looking at your user profile? this would confirm your username/password combination.

Minecraft performed a service update last year changing login values, again i would log into their site and verify you do not need to take any actions or retrieve/reset your password.
Have you tried logging into stock minecraft client?
Did you have any other minecraft/mojang products/launchers running when you tried, this will always provide bad handshaking with the server.
yes 383 is the one you want.
What java version do you have?
What operating system do you use?

Update your launcher

Check that your firewall isn't filtering encrypted data

Close all instances of the launcher you have running (check process list)

check spelling and caps

Perform a traceroute and check that your connection isn't being monitored (extra hops in the data) this is "man in the middle" state can cause MD5 sums to become malformed as they reroute your packets. You can also check this by opening a SSH session to any host with SSH running (search for free SSH/shell accounts) SSH will inform you of any MiM attacks on your route.

The directory it uses seems to be dependent on if your run as admin or, not, i mentioned it as an aside in case it was related, but it is not, i should remove that from the post really. But this should fix many of the issues of this nature that have been posted here in the last month.

add: can not use the setx fix as it says can not set a variable more than once.

Having issues with my clients not knowing, or not being able to set environment variables, so could someone drop this piece of code into the the launcher, it should fix everyone having this issue (it seems common)

FIXED:

Unless the TechnicLauncher gets the above code added you will have to either:

start -> search "command" -> right click -> run as admin -> past setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

or (if using windows 7, or get an error from setx)

start -> control panel -> computer -> system -> advanced -> environmental variables -> new -> set name as "_JAVA_OPTIONS" (thats U_score JAVA u_score OPTIONS) -> value to "-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true"

Do not include any quotes or my notes in parenthesis. This will fix the issue, tested on;

Windows 7

Windows Vista

due to the protocol detection capability of the kernel Linux is immune to this bug.

Description of Problem:

Launcher will not download modpacks, says error accessing URL.

URL can be accessed via a web browser however.

All technic files/folder deleted, launcher re-downloaded from site, and java reinstalled no fix.

Firewall settings checked, no fix.

as suggested on this forum "setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true" no fix

Running as admin, no fix
