I'm still a bit confused as to how to tell whether or not a server host will let me use a custom technic mod pack, anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Size as in ram, feel that should be a pretty obvious one Anything more specific than the most used search engine?

I really hope this is the right place to post this, and sincerely apologize if it isn't, but I have a few questions. I'm new to running a server, and had a few questions Firstly, what size of server would I need for me, and 1-2 friends to play Technic together? Secondly, where abouts would I start looking to find a server? Thirdly, would I need a special kind of server to run a custom modpack, or will any technic server do? I would greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can give me.
