DEAD KARL

Hey I recently bought Minecraft and have been trying to host a server for my friends and I. I am experienced in using servers, so this is not an alien concept to me, though I am having a problem where it either claims "Bad login" when I attempt to join or it claims for my friends that they "Can't reach the server" or it "Times out". Any ideas why this might be? I have attempted this with Hamachi and port forwarding, but it doesn't let my friends join. In certain cases it lets me join but that is it. I have also attempted disabling my firewalls and have also made my Ip static.
