If you arent going to be using the same worlds it should be as simple as replacing the files. If you are though, make sure there wont be blocks in the world from 3.1.2 only mods, and make sure no id's are different from mods that 3.0.4 and 3.1.2 have in common.
I'll make a backup and report back later on tonight.
-
Cant you just hit options > use recommended build?
If youre talking about server files im not sure. My admin panel lets me control the version of tekkit and i just handle all the other files
Yeah, I meant for the server. I know the client isnt an issue. I'm just worried the server might vomit on me if I tried to downgrade it.
-
Just wondering if its possible and how its done.
Is it as simple as dropping in the 3.0.4 files into the folder or is it more involved/complicated?
-
Errr, the problem was solved in the second post, you just zombified a 3-week-old thread, and you didn't post a bug report. How do you think this is going to go?
Its not a bug, its a new laptop which she isn't familiar with. I was looking for detailed info as to tweak the nvidia control panel (which I should have further clarified).
-
I have a friend who is having the same issues as we speak, how did you guys solve this problem so I can relay instructions to her?
-
I made a similar bug report, but it was for an older version of tekkit and I thought CTIII was also at fault. I recently upgraded to 3.1.2 so I decided to resubmit it with an untainted log (sans CTIII).
I will submit this to the MC forums @ NEI post as well.

How does one reinstall this in Tekkit? I looked at the files in the minecraft forums, but theres lots of files. Not sure how to install this with 3.1.2?
-
I'm sorry guys, I'm not sure how to install this? Do I want the standard or forge version? How do I install either one?

I updated with a 2nd log, the error seemed larger and different.

Title: Crafting Table III and NEI recipe search crashes client
Version: 3.0.3/3.0.4
OS: Windows 7 64bit (fully updated)
Java Version: Java 7 64bit (build 1.7.0-b147)
Description of Problem:
For the past couple of days when I look thru the crafting table 3 or search for an item in NEI and click it to view the recipe it causes the client to crash.
I searched the forums a bit and some people suggested it might be a button binding issue. I changed all the bindings, all different keys and no conflicts and the issue still occurs.

Ahh okay, seeing this line : [04:03:58] [sEVERE] at InvTweaksObfuscation.getPlayerContainer(InvTweaksObfuscation.java:78) I think it is Inventory tweaks responding to it.
It is already submitted at the mod makers github. https://github.com/mkalam-alami/inventory-tweaks/issues/234
Thanks

Well easy fix there. Do not use your middle mouse buttons in the menu. Just do not say anything whilst your starting minecraft. Have you tried it with vanilla Minecraft? If it bugs out there it is a vanilla bug.
Thats not a fix. Thats like pulling out the dashboard fuse so the "check engine" light goes away. Whether or not I ignore it does not make the bug any less of a bug.
The bug does not exist in vanilla, only tekkit.

Title: middle mouse button crashes minecraft while in the main menu
Version: 3.0.3/3.0.4
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Java Version: Java 7 64bit (build 1.7.0-b147)
Description of Problem:
At the title screen (MINECRAFT: Singleplayer, multiplayer, texture packs, etc) if I press the middle mouse button it will crash. It goes to a brown dirt screen and then goes to a white screen.
The crash will happen when the middle mouse button is pressed in the submenus. So it will crash in options, texture packs and in server selection screen, anywhere. Once a world is loaded and ESC is pressed the game will not crash anymore. So if im on a server and go into options I can press the middle mouse button and it wont crash.
I tried to unbind the middle mouse button (which is block selection by default) but that didn't help or change anything. Still crashes regardless.
MMB is my push to talk button for ventrilo, so I thought maybe ventrilo was causing a conflict, but it still happened when vent was shut off.

ooofa, MCP can take a good while sometimes. That bad boy alone can take 1-2 weeks sometimes.
-
So have the majority of the mod devs started the big FML port with the snapshots or are they waiting for the 1.3RC or actual 1.3? Is that a ton of work or is it relatively simple? Will the transition to FML make future updates easier/faster?
Is there a blog/blogs that I should watch for development updates when 1.3 does it, so I (or any of the community) can stay up to date?
Also, I just want to throw a disclaimer. I'm not an impetuous child who can't wait for updates or anything. I'm just try'n to get a grasp of what the development cycle feels like in this community.
Thanks fellers!
-
It also depends on if the mods have to port over to a new API. The big mods have ported over to FML (No not fuck my life, Forge modloader!) and now they don't require Modloader, modloaderMP and audiomod. Now that they only require 1 API, the most mods won't have much trouble updating I guess.
Are you talkin about the modding API? Becuase I don't think thats coming till 1.4, unless we are talking some other API!
-
Tekkit is maybe updated a week after ALL of the mods have been updated. But then just the development build for it has started.
It depends, if the mods have become imcompatible with their previous versions (looks at EE in Technic 6 to 7)
and how long does it take all the mods to be update on average? Do you recall how long the 1.2.5 update took?
-
Howdy folks. I'm new to the Tekkit community and not very knowledgeable on the inner workings of the mods developers. So please forgive my questions.
Two quick questions.
After the 1.3 update drops, how long (on average) until Tekkit is updated as well?
Are we expecting a world wipe when the 1.3 update comes?
Disclaimer. I am not asking for a specific date! But obviously some of you have been playing longer than I and maybe have a better grasp as to how long the updates take. I'm just looking for a rough guess. Does it usually take 1 day, 1 week, 1 month? Also, is dumping worlds a common thing with updates? Should I expect to be ready to delete worlds and start fresh when the 1.3 update drops? I'm just curious, not looking for anything solid, just best guesses and opinions.
Thank you all ahead of time!
edit: is it also safe to assume that the sheer nature of 1.3 might cause tekkit to update slowly? 1.3 is bringing lots of crazy changes...
-
Not sure if its too soon to ask or not, but Ive been very curious about it. Tekkit is the main reason that I am excited about the Mod API! But I'm not sure how robust it will be or the head honcho's at Tekkit will be porting it over? Can it be ported?
Any general info would be greatly appreciated. Please cite your courses if its something offical, Rumors are welcome as well!
Can I downgrade from 3.1.2 to 3.0.4 ?
in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Posted
The downgrade was successful. No issues. I deleted the mods folder and just threw in the old 3.0.4 server files.
One a side note, and I'm not sure if its something to be worried about, the client is missing 3.0.4! It has 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.0.3 and then 3.0.5. I was able to log into my server with 3.0.3 but 3.0.5. or above (naturally).
Not sure if thats going to cause issues or if thats the way it always was. I would love someones input.
