When I use my pre-update launcher it fails to work. however i deleted my .techniclauncher folder and started up the launcher. The problem recurrred, however there was now another new launcher within /%appdata%/.techniclauncher and that seems to overcome the problem. Can't explain why this is working, but it's worth a try. Obviously you'll want to back up your save files! Good luck.
