  1. I wish I could say you are the worst server owner I know of, but sadly, there are worse. Honestly, read what you just typed. You will disable a mod that many of your players love. A mod that has drawn players to your server because you allow it. All to protect your little economy system. I'm going to guess you have EE completely disabled, or else your economy is nonsensical. What is more important, your players having fun, or a few people depriving themselves of the tekkit experience and duping a few items?

As a side note, server run economies fail... miserably. The only way you're going to get a nice economy going is with player only trading.

You are honestly just a grumpy asshole. Obviously you have never run a large successful economic server, and have no idea how dedicate players are to duping. My players all love me, and understand why i had to take away the drives until they are fixed. It’s not as if they weren't allowed to save all their files on a computer.

Economic servers are possible to run; my project for months has been to replicate the economic atmosphere similar to that of a runescape private server. I have run many runescape servers for years and the bare-bone skill system of the game allowed for a realistic, dynamic market to come naturally. I am trying to replicate that economy through the use of gambling, factions, taxes, web auctions, skills, staking, raiding, and domination. Many players get extremely addicted to my servers, and i have run into tremendous problems with a sole player find a duping glitch and spends days on end abusing it. This results in massive factions of quantum and red matter, they raid, pillage, grow, and ruin the economy on purpose. A glitch such as the disk drive is a full on duplication glitch, it has the same effect to a server as enabling the red matter furnace or alchemy chest. I have spent many hours removing every possible exploit from my server, and it wouldn't be worth it to allow a single duping glitch to stay after working hard to be solid.

It’s just my project, and I think I’m going to succeed. I’ve had years of experience with DECA and marketing/entrepreneur classes. I have studied in Human Resource Management and marketing demographic research, and am continuing my education in economics at the University of Washington.

You sir, know nothing of my project and have no right to make judgments of it.

  2. This bug has always worked.

I thought i had banned disk drives but recently discovered that some players in my server got a hold of them and are happily using them. Many of them are really good at coding, and have tons of scripts on their disks. Now i have to take all of their programs away, and essentially prevent them from using computercraft, when they is the reason they are on my server in the first place.

I really wish there was a fix for this, i love computercraft but this glitch ruins my economy server :/

    any known fixes yet?

  3. Launcher/pack Version:Tekkit 2.1.0 (Recommended)

    Operating System: Debian

    Version of Java: 1.7u3

    Description of Problem:

From my understanding of the problem, if pipes are deleted and then attempted to be reloaded (by hawkeye or something) they spawn back with 'type 0' which is null, and then spits out TONS of errors as it attmpts to find the class.

I created my server with this bug in mind, not allowing any kind of creeper regeneration, and never once used world edit on tekkit blocks, or rolled back anything with hawkeye. I thought i had prevented all means of Pipe type 0 of occuring, but even my new users are managing to create the pipes. The problem seems to be exponential, users log in and the CMD is spammed with a bunch of

2012-04-27 14:03:17 [iNFO] [buildCraft] Error creating pipe type 0 (class=null)

2012-04-27 14:03:17 [iNFO] [buildCraft] Error creating pipe type 0 (class=null)

2012-04-27 14:03:17 [iNFO] [buildCraft] Error creating pipe type 0 (class=null)

2012-04-27 14:03:17 [iNFO] [buildCraft] Error creating pipe type 0 (class=null)

As time goes on, more of these messages when the users log in. I doubt that the pipes are actually replicating, but since i have almost positively prevented any kind of reload of deleted pipes, i come to the conclusion that the problem is internal, or relying on another factor.

Here is my log of server startup, Buildcraft loads up error free so im not sure if the problem is mod related.

I end the pastie at the first time the pipe type 0 is spawned, every time the same error messages are created. But this is a slightly dated log, today users are logging into " [iNFO] [buildCraft] Error creating pipe type 0 (class=null)" being spammed on the CMD 20+ times

    Pastie: http://pastebin.com/negv46d0

I know a fix is to delete the pipes by hand, this was once a reasonable method. But my server now averages 30 players constant, and the problem is too widespread for me to continue solving by hand. There must be a problem higherup that is allowing these pipes to exist

Would it be possible to add a fake class for type 0? so atleast it loads something

Or possibly to add type 0 to the config to be ignored?

On my old server Pipe type 0 would crash clients if you came near, my current dedi is holding up, but the problem just started getting BAD today. Im afraid this will bog down and destroy the entire map :S

    Anyone have any suggestions?

It seems to be a fairly common problem

  4. You may also want to try running 512mb. a friend of mine with a low end machine says he gets much better performance running 512mb on a computer with just a few GB of ram.

Then turn all your video settings down, tekkit should leak the least ram in the lowest settings.

But i would do this after trying what the above poster suggested :D

  5. I am getting this exact same error to the letter, and it started today as well.

Could it have anything to do with this update posslby? it fits the timeframe

    http://www.technicpack.net/1-2-5-has-dropped/

a few notes with the problem i am having

-I removed all plugins, still grass screens

-there is not an error, when loading up or when the player crashes

    - on the console, the user does not disconnect when they grass screen, then whitescreen. Rather they 'endofstream' the moment they 'x' out of their client

-One time (but not usually every time) i crashed JavaSE crashed too

-I installed every service pack upgrade, and java upgrade n stoof

    Anyone have ideas :S

    Update---

I downloaded a fresh 2.1.1 Server, i was able to log in without a crash.

When i copied all the world and plugin files over to the fresh 2.1.1 I got the crash again.

But when i deleted my default world, i am able to login without crashing with the old plugins and settings

But when i go really far away from spawn, i dont crash at all. dont think it was the plugins, as i still crash without them

    -----

It seems like a client error reacting to a mod item at spawn, but i crash so quickly its impossible to find anything

My server was running last night, and i guess somewhere around 3AM it got restarted??

    after that dc problems rampant

    Anyone have any ideas?

  6. Hello!

I am equally a disgruntled server admin

I have a big cathedral as my spawn, and my players discoevered that you can turn the arches into sand and make them fall =.=

Ive been having problems getting modify world to work for blocking the Philosophers stone, could you offer me any advice?

I am using both PEX (the old one for 1.1R3) and modifyworld enabled

I am currently trying to set regulars with the permissions " - -modifyworld.item.use.27526.on.block.* "

i think my permission " - modifyworld.*" might be causing the above permission not to work, but when i removed the modifyworld.* users items get deleted >.<

Am i correctly using modifyworld to block item usage?

Thank you if you can offer any help :D
