mac software update says there are no updates available

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3 Operating System: Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8 Java Version: Java SE 6 1.6.0_33-b03-424 Antivirus Program: None Description of Problem: When I login the launcher tries to download minecraft.jar about 3 times then stops and an error message pops saying "Update Failed!"
