How do you run the .jar file? (And could me not being a windows administrator effect anything.. lol) ((Even after I already installed it -?))

Ran tekkit. it says "checking launcher version" then closes. I read there are trouble with 32-bit machines, Any way to run it ? Error Messages: N/A Error Log: N/A
