Thanks Jorcer, found your advice once I looked in to some of the other post replies - didn't see it initially on the summary page. Linux/jar (version 1.0.1.3) works like a charm! I wonder why 1.0.1.0 is up for Windows download??

OK, found Jorcer's solution further down the page - download the Linux/jar version (1.0.1.3) instead - works fine.

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.0 ? Latest, just downloaded Operating System: Win7 Java Version: 7? - new computer, just installed latest Antivirus Program: Norton Antivirus Description of Problem: New computer, trying to set up Minecraft and Tekkit. Installed Java, new download. Technic Launcher downloaded 5 times, later ones after disabling AV. No change. I double click on Technic Launcher icon, the Windows warning comes up, hit Run - then "TechnicLauncher has stopped working" error appears. Error Messages: as above "TechnicLauncher has stopped working" Error Log: None yet created
