I'm having some bizarre glitches involving lag with my friend's server. Let me detail them below:
My friend is running the Server Tekkit over a Hamachi server on his home computer. Latest version (3.0.3/1.2.5) server/client. I am connecting to it via the client version, as is my other friend. While playing, we are getting around 35 ms ping each to his computer, which is great! Gameplay is smooth, all is well.
But not so well. Here is the weird part: whenever me (running client), and my other friend (also running client) go within a couple of chunks of each other, our latency to the server goes THROUGH THE ROOF! We have pauses of 10-15 seconds in breaking a block or opening a chest, until one or the other disconnects. THEN everything gets back to normal, until whichever one of us RECONNECTS, falling through the world which hasn't loaded - while making the other one lag out. Then if one of us stays disconnected and the other runs away, separating us by a couple of chunks, whoever disconnected can log in, and the latency is 100% fine!
The friend running the server experiences no lag issues of course, and can play with either me, or my other friend. But if me and my other friend get together within a couple of chunks, we lag out and disconnect!
Even weirder - when we set up the map we could play with each other fine for a couple of days. But then this issue started happening!
My friend running the server has passed minecraft and java through the firewall, disabled anti-virus, ran ping tests, tried different maps, switched ISPs, assigned more RAM etc. I've spent hours google searching, looking through forum posts, and NOTHING seems to make any difference.
Any pointers as to what to do next?
As of now, this error is continuing to go on, it has not gone away with time. We've had a few more people on the server, and the lag out and glitches are not only occurring just between me and the other friend, but also when I'm in the vicinity of the server host. The other people on the server are neither affected by this, nor do they trigger it. This is really wierd.
Also, I can see the other players moving about in the world while I'm falling through the unloaded terrain, and can chat (with about a 10 second lag) - but the terrain either doesn't load, or loads after 60 or so seconds. And then, just one chunk.
