Custom pack, loading as vanilla (checked .jar in bin / forge for ver of MC)

Hello Technicers! Good morning :)

It's been a long sleepless night of creating my first mod pack and I'm *this* close to success. I've managed to get the game itself to launch but oh noes, it comes up as vanilla only! :(

From what I've read this is either due to modpack.jar not being actually a jar, named incorrectly or in the wrong folder.... or the wrong version of Forge for my related version of Minecraft.

Here's the pack itself: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27623379/modpack.zip

Here's the latest log where Technic fires up the pack in Vanilla mode: http://pastebin.com/ira7u0Jk

While I am on the topic, there have been several helpful suggestions to run the pack locally before trying to upload/download the pack repeatedly. Any idea how I go about doing that?

Thanks in advance for the help and support. Have a wonderful day! :)

Whups, found several problems...

1 - Did not wrap the bin and config folders into the modpack.zip, only mods

2 - Did not remove a previous version of Forge Installer from the mods folder; only added universal to bin which wasn't wrapped in the archive (see #1)

Re-uploading and trying again :D

And progress is being made... for reference MultiMC is invaluable for testing before trying to shove this in the launcher. Thanks for the tip!
Just troubleshooting mod issues now and I'll be up and running :D wooohoo.

Thanks to Luke for his guide
Thanks also to MightyMelon for his how-to video
