Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: Windows 7

Java Version: Version 7 update 5

Antivirus Program: My brother is hosting a private server, and we're playing tekkit. We've been on the server countless hours, but all of a sudden, a week ago or something, it started saying "Can't reach server" when i tried to connect to him. And we've done everything in the book to try and solve the problem, including changing IP:addresses, re-installing tekkitserver and even re-installed the game, but nothing works. Has someone else seen this and found a solution for it?

Ps. I don't know if i posted this in the right thread, feel free to move if needed. ds.

Cheers!

Oh, and we've updated Java, we've removed technic launcher (and the folder with the same name in %appdata%) and downloaded it again, but now it keeps crashing in the middle of start-up, we got past that mark a couple of times and started to update, but then that failed too and after the program will crash in the middle of start-up....

Hi, just out of interest.

You say "Private Server" is this something your brother is hosting on directly his machine or do you have a separate server at home?

If he is hosting it locally, can he connect or does he have the same problem?? If he can connect correctly then I suspect that it is a firewall issue or anti virus. Check the server.properties and the port has not be changed and that this matches his firewall configuration.

In addition to this, Win 7 firewall has several different profiles. Switching the firewall profile can cause a lockout issue.

Find the firewall rule for minecraft and ensure it works as follows.

Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Advanced Settings -> Inbound Rules

If in doubt you can temporary disable his firewall internally just to see if that's the issue. If you can connect with it off you have found the problem.

P.S. Looking around the forum, there are some connection related issues with logins. I don't know if this is related.
