I am running no antivirus.. not sure why it put duplicate description there instead of the 'None' I entered on the form.

Try:

1) Running the launcher .jar instead of the .exe.

2) Upgrading to Java 7u5.

This is OSX, no EXE -- tried both the applescript launcher and the jar directly - same problem.

Updated to 10.7.4 and 7u5 - same issue. Here is the log after the upgrade attempting to launch tekkit in offline mode:
