Shuts down after checking launcher version

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

Java Version: Java 7 Update 5

Antivirus Program: When I launch the launcher, it shows the bar at the top left and says "Checking Launcher Version" then shuts down immediately.

Description of Problem:

When I launch the launcher, it shows the bar at the top left and says "Checking Launcher Version" then shuts down immediately.

I just used .jar

I downloaded the . jar but there is not a launcher to run Technic with so I have the file but no way to run it.

the file is just a .zip file for me so it doesnt work only shows me the files...
