Automating the Rolling Machine

I'm having difficulty automating the rolling machine.  I was trying to make Steel posts from Iron Ingots (just for info). The wiki says "The Rolling Machine is an upgraded Crafting Table used inRailCraft complete with its own distinct set of recipes. It functions similar to an Automatic Crafting Table in that you can use Loaders or Pipes to automate the crafting process.", however I am finding this does not function at all like an automatic crafting table but more like a standard crafting table.  The recipe is not locked in and the buffer inventory is not separated.

I can pipe things in but they all arrive in one location in the recipe.  If my automation pulls out too fast (demand exceeds supply) the recipe is lost.  

Can anyone enlighten me how to automate this?
