Launcher does not connet/work

Antivirus Program: Avast!

Description of Problem:

I have had some troubles with all minecraft launchers being able to connect to minectaft.net, but i managed to get those working though the use of a batch file, but that solution does not work for tekkit.

When I launch it, it looks like this:

and I cannot to connect to anything.

Trying to log in either gets me "update failed" or "Unable to authenticate account with minecraft.net"

Also, whenever An alert box appears (such as "Unable to authenticate account with minecraft.net") the words are left behind on the grey part even when the box goes away.

Anyone have any ideas as what might fix this?
