I have this exact same issue. Still no updates?

UPDATE: When I set ram to 512 on the technic launcher, I can hear thunder and lightning. It's really weird and somewhat scary. Nothing else makes a sound though. I have 4 Gigs of ram installed on my computer. I don't see how this could be a RAM issue. All I know is that above 512 Megs allocated, NO sound. 512 megs = Ambience but still no other sound.

There must be a fix for this. Like I said, 4 Gigs of ram should be sufficient enough to produce sound.

How long are you in-game without sound? I read somewhere that Minecraft downloads its sound files on the fly, and depending on your Internet connection it can take 5-10 minutes or so.

I get this problem from time to time when minecraft updated to 1.2.5 ,1.3.1 and when technic updated to 1.2.5 the sound would be gone. It took maybee a day (irl) for it to come back. I dont think there is anything you can do anything about it exept wait.

Yep. It's back. Weirdest thing ever. Took about 30 minutes.

The best thing to do when doing a fresh install of Minecraft is to go make a sandwich or a cup of tea or something upon reaching the main menu for the first time. Sound should've got its shit together by the time you get back, ;P

If your antivirus is one of the naughty ones that prevents Minecraft/the Technic Launcher from downloading its bits and bobs, I'm not sure if it also interferes with the download of the sounds. If you've disabled AVG (for example) so you can install everything, it might be a good idea to leave it off until you hear a moo, ;P

Alternatively, get avast!. Problem solved.

I have no sound either and I been playing for a few hours - none of the mods in tekkit work including vanilla - no sound - FTB and the normal way of playing minecraft all have sound just not anything tekkit related.

Any idea's?
