Mods Aren't installing :(

Description of Problem:

firstly, it doesn't have 3.1.1 in the dropdown box which is my tekkit version.

the real problem is tekkit is downloading all the mods it needs but seems to be not installing them, or something... it plays vanilla in SSP and in SMP it says "The server requires the following mods:" and the list goes off the screen! also, it takes half a minute if i run tekkit for the first time, showing it isn't installing all the mod files because that would take longer. and in the title screen, it only says 4 mods loaded. if i click on the "mods" buttonop it says Forge mod loader, Optifine, mod_CodeChickenCore, mod_MinecraftForge, mod_NotEnoughItems, mod_Invtweaks. under all of them it says "metdata not found" except Forge mod loader and mod_MinecraftForge which say "0 child mods" under them.

That could be it. Disable it, or add exceptions as appropriate, or uninstall it, whatever you prefer, and see what happens.

after i do that should i delete .techniclauncher or will it detect that it hasen't got any mods?

I'd Clear Cache on your installation of Tekkit first and let it reinstall.

it did nothing, exactly the same happened. i had to delete the .techniclauncher instead because if i try to clear my cache from technic launcher it says "failed to clear cache. ensure all modpack files are open"
