Most mods failed to load, corrupted world

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: Windows 7 32 bit

Java Version: version 6 update 31 (build 1.6.0_31-b05)

Antivirus Program: AVG

Description of Problem:

Technic was working fine, then I seem to have gotten an update when I tried to play it. After it had finished and launched the game, my worlds read "need to be converted". When my world was finished I loaded it up and noticed that machines like my batbox and macerator, as well as all the copper cabling had disappeared. I had also searched my chests and my items where all missing too. As well as the non industrial craft items. All that remained was vanilla content. There may be an easy fix to this, but I'm just not seeing it.

You updated...and you didn't think it would mess up your world? I'd think that through a little more in the future.

didnt seem like updates would remove stuff :l ... and that doesnt explain why the mods no longer work

@Torezu, aren't you helpful >.> I have the same issue, and when checking in the 'Mods' tab in the Main screen, i find majority of the mods say 'Metabuild not found', or something similar.. Any Fix? And is this the same for you BlameSociable?

That just means those particular mods don't have blocks, or have blocks that don't have metadata. It's normal.

As for your missing mods: that's what happens when you update. It damages worlds, because so many mods update and so many block IDs change. I would pretty much assume you need to start a new world every time a new minor version (that's moving from 7.1 to 7.2, for example) comes out. If you really don't want to start a new world, do some research to figure out how to avoid that. It may just involve not updating.

I am kind of screwed because this happened to me on the latest update which I believe was yesterday, July 30, 2012. Also, if I don't update, then all the mods still disappeare.

When checking the mods menu, I don't see metabuild not found :l (though granted I didn't check all of them) just saying no mod data available. And i am going to have issues every time i update? possibly leaving my world unplayable forcing me to make a new world? Then why are these forced updates? surely there must be a way to choose not to update, or keep a specific world in a later version or something of the sort.

OK so i was downloading tekkit when it froze, i disabled my avg and it continued downloading all fine, then i opened the tekkit launcher and found it to be just like minecraft only with some mods... is there anyway of reinstalling tekkit because i think avg messed something up.

Yes, but...well. See the warning. Just delete your .techniclauncher\tekkit folder and re-download. Make sure you've removed AVG entirely.

Done as you said however still same problem... It interacts with my normal minecraft worlds but installs a mod.

Then go submit your own bug report.
