launcher keeps crashing on startup

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: the latest, i'm not sure how to find this out

Operating System: windows 7 professional service pack 1

Java Version: 64 Bit

Antivirus Program: pc tools internet security

Description of Problem:

when i open up the Technic launcher.exe it downloads the files then crashes (if i have deleted the .techniclauncher folder in some despite attempt at fixing it), i then try and open it again and it says "checking launcher version" for a second then crashes. the launcher worked fine on my old pc (eset AV and windows 7 home).

I have already tried updating java, closing my AV and pretty much every thing else on the FAQ's page, so any suggestions?

Error Messages:

none

Error Log:

none

Weird. I thought that was fixed. Okay, so Kaker needs to get his act together. It's in the logs directory, right inside the .techniclauncher folder. I'm kind of surprised your sifting didn't happen to notice that.

all there is in the .techniclauncher file is a .winRAR file named "technic-launcher", in that file there are four files named (from top to bottom) com, META-INF, org and SevenZip. as far as iv'e looked there is nothing about a logs

sorry if im being a bit of a hassle or anything :|

I can pretty much guarantee you haven't tried the .jar version then, as WinRAR is making the .jar look like an archive. Right-click on that "WinRAR" file and click "Run with Java" if you can. If you can't, you'll probably need to use a batch file to run it. The file extension on it is .jar - it's not actually a WinRAR native file, though WinRAR can open it.
