I don't know if this is the right section, so mods can move/delete it if they want, sorry if it isn't. This is my first thread, and I've practically never posted on any forum.

Well, I'm very curious, I've just began playing Technic and was wondering how the Launcher works. I saw it creates a whole new folder, (.)techniclauncher, with every pack ahving another folder. (I'm on OSX ML by the way). And I was wondering, does it use the (.)minecraft folder at all? If I decided to play vanilla minecraft and add my own mods, could I just install them in the .minecraft folder as usual and lauch MC from the normal launcher? Thanks!

Note that I also noticed that MoCreatures is installed in my .minecraft folder, is this normal?

This or the Encyclopedia section will do for your questions.

The launcher pulls its own copy of Minecraft, and does not use the .minecraft folder, so you are welcome to mod it up as much as you want. There are even a few threads in the General Technic SSP section for mod packs that do just that. Mo' Creatures likes to stick its config file in your .minecraft folder from the .techniclauncher folder when you change configurations in-game. I would imagine that's just how it's programmed. I would recommend leaving it, unless you plan on modding your regular Minecraft, then it's safe to move it to the .techniclauncher folder, at least if you keep the configs the same between the two.
