Launcher just crashes!

Operating System: Windows 7 64x bit

Java Version: JRE 7

Description of Problem:

Basically, when I open the TechnicLauncher file, it says Checking Launcher Version, and closes within about 3 seconds. I have looked at all the other questions like this, but they don't help. Restarting, reinstalling, and I can't seem to find what everybody says to open with java. All I have is the techniclauncher folder from downloading the linux/Jar, and the technic launcher itself is there from saving the windows version.

I have that same problem, but when i launch it twice it works. At the first time i launch it it crashes, but when i launch it again it works. So just try launching it twice.

The techniclauncher "folder" you have there probably is the .jar file. Most likely either you used IE to download it and it came in a .zip file instead, or you have WinRAR or some other archival program associated with .jar files. Try downloading it with Firefox or Chrome instead. Then right-click and hit "Run with Java".
